Oh…my…lord…. If you are a Thai, Japanese, seafood, or overall food fan you HAVE to come here. I’ve waited about 6 years to find a place with toro at a reasonable price and I was not let down. It started with a sort of brackish taste which worried me but it formed into that of fresh fish and ended off with almost a fruity taste, I thought there was a pineapple sauce on it until I looked at it and tried it again. I also had the ikura and conch sushi which blew me away. I’ve had ikura at about two-dozen different sushi restaurants in North and South America and this place was by far the best. I can only imagine anything better has to be in Japan directly. I can’t even describe what I was tasting but heaven wrapped in seaweed. The conch was also quite good, I’ve had it fried many times but when i had it raw it there was a whole different flavor and reminded me of Tako. The pad Thai also great with a hefty serving of chicken, looked like it was either 2 chicken breasts or one HUGE chicken. It also stayed steaming hot for about 45 minutes which blew us away 😂 . You can’t miss out on the ceviche either, especially if you like octopus. Large serving of fish, good sized shrimp, and a crazy amount of octopus, and if you’re a tentacle guy like me they included huge portions of them. Aside from the food the service was also pretty good. Host had us seated right when we walked in and had drinks ordered within minutes. I was also feeling some sake but they had a long list so I asked our waiter Oscar for a recommendation and he did not let us down (see picture for sake reference). Was super smooth and left a slight floral taste in your mouth.

I was really excited to try Thai Sushi after reading all the reviews and looking at the photos. Overall for me it was just ok. Service wasn’t great, no specials were told to us or described. The food runner was quite rude and wearing ear buds so when we tried to ask him for something he didn’t hear/ignored us. Tried to order chicken satay for an appetizer and was told they were out. We ordered a bottle of wine, decent wine selection. We ordered crab Rangoon which was good but the filling wasn’t hot, or warm for that matter. After ordering our meal the waiter informed us that they just got chicken satay. How do you not have it then 10min later you do? It’s always nice to check, go the extra mile. So that was kind of annoying. I ordered the salad with ginger dressing and the spider roll. Hubby had the wonton soup and beef and chicken pad Thai. Salad was good, dressing could’ve had more kick to it. Spider roll was good, not great. Wonton soup was good as well. The pad Thai was yummy. I’ll be back and I’ll probably order a dish and not sushi.

I'm generally skeptical eating at Asian restaurants that try to cook more than one cuisine. It usually ends up being a hodge-podge of food where the flavors are not distinct. Thai Sushi did a decent job to settle the craving. I ordered the Pad Thai and some sushi rolls. The Pad Thai had good flavor and was a nice portion but was skimpy or lacked some of the core ingredients like fresh bean sprouts and crushed peanuts. The sushi selection was basically a variation of the California roll in some combination with tuna, salmon, yellow tail or shrimp tempura. Be prepared to pay an extra premium for being on a touristy island, roughly 20% more compared to other comparable restaurants. I did takeout. Time estimation was pretty close to what they told me. A fair choice if you want some Thai or sushi.

Easy extra parking in lot left of the restaurant (adjacent block). Wheelchair accessible, with dining options outside or in, and takeout. Beer/wine available, Thai, sushi menu, Japanese food, Thai inspired desserts. Vegan & vegetarian selections; healthy meals yet full of flavor. Beef, chicken, seafood, tofu, veg were the usual options for stir fries & curries. Lunch served only on weekends, but they have great specials. Note that soup's broth (that comes with lunch special) is not vegetarian.

Ate here a few times to get a well rounded impression...the freshness and flavor kept my family coming back. You can request your preferred spiciness level for the curries and dishes with kick. Tom Yum seafood soup was savory and didn't skimp on the goods. Dad loved his Japanese seafood yaki soba, and he normally isn't a "vegetable guy." The sushi was fresh and satisfying. Servings were generous and reasonably priced for the locale. Service was friendly every time we came. It's a small place and gets busy during popular dining times, but is well worth it. They recently opened (early 2018) and had the normal growing pains of suddenly being overwhelmed by eager diners wanting to try something new. This must be considered, and wasn't long when things smoothed out...

AMAZINGLY GOOD!!! Any fool that wrote anything negative about Thai Sushi By KJ is full of BS. They're obviously impatient people that do not know, nor appreciate EXCEPTIONAL food when they put it in their pathetic mouths. There is not one bad thing about this restaurant. I've personally known Joe the owner for many years. He has been in the restaurant business for a very long time. He knows his stuff when it comes to food and service. He is an extremely talented man. He did all the exquisite wood work, tables, and wall hangings himself. He is a truly gifted artist with his food creations as well, with many original menu creations of his own. I know Thai and Sushi cuisine, and this place is among the best. As far as Marco Island goes, Thai Sushi By KJ is the BEST restaurant on the Island!!!

Update 7/30/19 Upon further reflection, I can honestly say that not only is Thai Sushi the very BEST restaurant in Marco Island, but it is the BEST restaurant in all of Naples too. And that is saying a lot, as there are some exceptional restaurants in Naples, but Thai Sushi by KJ goes above and beyond all of them in quality of food...
