I usually like to support small local businesses, but unfortunately, my recent visit here was disappointing. My cousins and I (party of 11; ages between 3-21) came in ready to enjoy a meal, but the cashier’s rude and unprofessional attitude ruined the experience from the start.
One of my cousins was already walking over to throw out his drink when the cashier unnecessarily told him to “go throw it away then” — even though he clearly was already doing it. She rolled her eyes and made us feel like we were a problem just for being there.
Because of how unwelcome we felt, we decided to take our food to go instead of dining in. When we told the cashier we’d like to switch it to takeout, she got visibly annoyed and frustrated just because she had to transfer the food into a to-go box. Again, completely unnecessary attitude.
For a small local business, you’d think they’d appreciate and treat their local customers with more respect — because at the end of the day, that’s all you have. We came in hoping for good food and a good time, but we left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. Won’t be...
Read moreI have driven by Flatlander for years on my way up to Fontana, WI, and finally stopped yesterday for a sandwich. I felt like I was stepping back in time. Upon walking in, I was greeted with a warm smile and hello by five workers in this family-run establishment. While waiting for my sandwich, I checked the history adoring the place's walls. You can eat in, but I got my order for takeout. My club sandwich came with some of the best homemade chips I have had, and it was great! Don’t forget to grab a homemade cookie (chocolate chip was my choice, but they all looked great). In the future, we will remember that we can pre-order and pick it up on our way up. Shout out to the family for working hard all week and taking the weekend...
Read moreFlatlander is a great lunch spot with convenient parking, a vintage Americana decor, and a menu I must get through because it is all so good! They serve several coffee styles, one thing that is “a must” for me, and food is loaded with flavor and great texture. The refrigerated beverage unit is packed with water and flavored drinks or, like me, order your brew anyway you like it at the counter. Pick a table and your food will be delivered soon thereafter. They carry a great line of fresh cookies—try the chocolate walnut ones!—and fruit bars that are tempting me lately. This local enterprise is on to something good and now I’m heading there to try one of their...
