We tried Stonebakers years ago and loved it. However, tonight was not the same experience. I asked the woman on the phone if she had anything similar to garlic knots, she said yes, we have pizza nuggets or we have the pizza bread and the cheese bread. Okay perfect, I ordered the $15 pizza nuggets vs the $4 bread. And then 2 doubledough pizzas. The cheese pizza was cooked well but the BBQ pizza was a little over done. But the pizza nuggets were NOT nuggets. It was basically just a cheese pizza without the sauce. (I'll post a picture. It's the one with the container of red sauce in the box) After I got home and saw what it was, I called to make sure we received the correct item. The young man on the phone didn't seem totally sure but it's definitely not what I was expecting, based on the conversation I had when I ordered it. I didn't ask for a refund or reimbursement, it's fine, I just know for next time. But there was no "customer service." No - I'm sorry for the inconvenience or I apologize that it wasn't what you were expecting. Just a generic response- yeah, that sounds like it could be the pizza nuggets...cuz the bread is like a loaf of bread. Okay, cool, thanks 😁 my kid didn't like it... so now I have to cook dinner anyway after spending $72 on what I thought was going to be dinner šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø I'd also like to point out that there was only a railing on one side of the stairs. My child only has the use of her left hand so it was a little wonky getting her back down the stairs while balancing the 3 boxes. Which probably doesn't effect many people. We obviously don't frequent this location often, but a hand rail on both sides would be helpful.

We dont live in Marengo..but we'll definitely make the drive to eat here again! Hubby ordered Phillysteak and cheese with an order of fried mushrooms..delicious! After reading reviews about their Italian beef with the au juice..I had to order it..oh my goodness..best beef I've had in a long time.. and I agree with the other reviewer..you could just sip the au juice! Even the French fries were great. Someone ordered a salad.. it looked amazing! Service was great and friendly! Please stop by here and keep this place goin..

I’ve had a lot of pizza. This is very very good pizza! Just delicious, fresh tasting, good sauce, generous toppings! Staff is really friendly, vibes are casual but fun. There’s not full table service for dine in but they definitely make sure you have everything you need and provide real plates and silverware etc. I live 40 mins away and time to time meet some friends who live in the suburbs here bc it’s about halfway. The pizza is definitely worth the drive!

Amazing food at truly great prices. It's that simple. In my opinion this is the best restaurant in Marengo.\\\\\\\\ 5 years later I’m downgrading my review. Back in October 2021 was the first time I called and complained about something after ordering from here since 2014. Portion sizes have been drastically reduced. My wife and I have ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap for YEARS, when we don’t want to cook. It’s substantially smaller in size. In October I called and said this is the first time I feel our order was not worth what we paid. The lady took my info, apologized, said there was a new cook/supply problems, etc. I apologized for bothering her because I knew she was busy and understood problems happen. She told me I’d hear from someone later in the week because we deserve better than that. Never heard from anyone. Tonight is the 3rd time we’ve ordered the same thing. The wrap is bigger now but half the size is just the wrap! Pictures included from October till present. I work for probably the biggest company in Marengo/Union area. Between 2014-2019 we ordered from Stonebakers twice a week on average. I’m sorry stonebakers. Understand price increases, but prices have increased and portion sizes dwindled. 3-21-22 upgrading review to 4 stars now! It’s getting better. Still longing for the HUGE portions we used to get before another 5 stars. 4-22-22 dang it Stonebakers. Tonight I was going to upgrade review back to five stars but I ordered an Italian beef wrap with cheese and hot peppers. The wrap was size I’ve grown to expect! However there wasn’t a single pepper or shred of cheese on it. It was still good but still can’t upgrade to original 5 stars. *7-31-22 update. Back to five stars! No complaints on our orders the...

Recent Update 2022: The last couple of times, the pizza was not very good at all, and way too greasy. Last time I ordered, I had relatives visiting from Chicago. They had one piece, and didn't like it. It was honestly horrible. I do not understand the ratings. I have ordered ordered from StoneBakers a number of times, but the pizza was only good once. I keep hoping they will make it good for me, but the last time was so embarrassing, so I have not ordered again since. It's a bit like playing Russian Roulette. You never know if it is going to be good or not.

Older Review 3 Years ago: I had heard good things about Stonebakers. So, one evening I decided to try it. I have traveled the world, and have had all sorts of pizza in my lifetime, and the pizza that was delivered to me that evening, was one of the worst I have ever tasted. Most of it went into the trash bin. It was overcooked, and had very little flavor. It was a bit like eating salted cardboard. Having said that, I have only lived here for a couple of years. Perhaps all the people that think Stonebakers is so great, have lived here for many years and have not been fortunate enough to travel as I have done. Also, all the pizza places I have ordered from in Marengo, do not have a clue what Chicago style pizza is. Reminds of when I lived in England, and the neighborhood pizza place that advertised Chicago style pizza, tasted more like sugar on dough. LOL I guess it all comes down to what we...
