Wow. What a gem in the rough. Nick's is located in what appears to be a primarily residential area.
It's not going to grab your attention from the outside, but as soon as you walk in that changes. I felt like I was stepping back in time to a slower, more peaceful time in history.
All the tables and chairs are dark wood. The decor feels very inviting, without being pretentious. The deep dark tones of the wooden beam style ceiling and horseshoe shaped bar give this place character.
Don't be fooled when they hand you the paper menu. Well they may have dispensed with the fancy design, its what's printed on it that makes the difference.
Now since you've read this far I'll cut to the chase and tell you about the food. In short, it's fantastic. You'll enjoy large portions, and your tastebuds will be delighted by some of the secret recipes. The home made potato chips are definitely a unique must try.
The staff is top notch. Our waitress took our order without even writing it down - and nailed it. (Amazing considering there were 11 of us).
Then the owner strolled over to our table to chat. Super nice guy, who really cares about his patrons. I saw him engage with everyone in the dining area.
As my wife relayed to the owner how the crab cakes she ordered were the best she's ever had in her life, (and she's been ALL over the world) he said he made up his mind decades ago that there is no substitute for quality.
Well, it shows. Nicks Bistro delivers a relaxing ambience, a well-rounded menu of simple and delicious food, great service with a personal touch all at a price that makes it easy to walk out feeling great.
I hear they are packed on the weekends, which makes it sound even...
Read moreThis is a nice spot in a quaint town. The atmosphere is a clean but rustic tavern. It features a nice low-lit, 3-sided bar (nice ambiance) and this old-school German style wall construction (that i can't remember the name of). There's about a dozen tables for dining (maybe more if you count the 2-seaters).
🎲🎰♟️🃏♣️ There's a section where you can play table games (cards, jenga, dominos, uno, chess, checkers, etc...). I saw at least one adult gaming machine, but I don't gamble, so I don't know what games it has. They have a Facebook page that you can check out for events.
🐔🥪🍟 I was happy with the cowboy-style (bacon + BBQ) grilled chicken breast sandwich. I have also gotten the wings several times. The garlic parm is excellent if you like garlic, and the hot-honey is fantastic as well (better than the straight "hot"). I also like that their chips are the thick potato kind (not like lays).
🍺🍻🍺 I must say though, I was disappointed that they did not carry any hefeweizen beers either on draft or in bottles. However, there were many other beer options; They carry Troegs and other IPAs, Lagers, some domestics, wine, and they have ~8 taps for draft (rotating sometimes).

Read moreFirst time to this place since new ownership. Husband and I ordered French Onion soup and Philly Cheesesteak egg rolls. My egg rolls were to be my meal and soup was appetizer. He ordered a tenderloin tip sandwich. Waited for what seemed like forever for our soups. Appetizers came out 1st (which mine was to be my meal), soups came out 1 min later and my husband's sandwich not even 2 mins after that. Soup was overly salty (even for my husband), he found 2 full bay leaves in his soup, I had 2 pieces as well in my soup. Tenderloin tip sandwich very disappointing...basically looked like 3" chunks of meat (because time was not taken to make them in smaller manageable bites)...it was a lot of work to eat it. This next one isn't as big a deal as the food but kinda funny I guess (?)....Asked for ketchup for hubby's fries, husband tries to squeeze it out, only to realize it was never opened, so he had to unscrew the lid and try to get them tiny little tabs to lift up to be able to pull that seal off. Will we be back? Probably not, unless we are desperate. Cooks need to do better. Sincerely...a Marietta born and...
