My wedding experience with railroad house inn was less than stellar. Leading up to the day Lauren was super attentive answering questions via email, and when we sat down a month to the day concerns were addressed. We agreed on a timeline and layout, everything looked and sounded great. We did not opt to pay the additional money for the day of coordinator because the wedding was small and I was assured that I didn't need it and Lauren would make sure things started smoothly that morning. Well that day came when my husband arrived at 9:30 no one was around to even speak to until after 11am. When I arrived at 10am for my bridal suite, I was calling for someone and calling out Lauren's name making my way up to the bridal suite, where another lady came down saying she wasn't done and needed 20/30s mins. We didn't have that with my early wedding. We asked can we start hair and make up while you finish the room, she agreed but wasn't happy about it. making me feel as if I was a nuisance. There's a lot more details but I'm shortening it here. We lost about 30 mins of time for pictures and getting ready due to this and the room not being set up. She didn't fully clean it or wipe Down that we could see or even fill toilet paper in the bathroom. While this is going on another gentleman who works for RRI was asked a question by my Dj of where he could set up and was rudely told. I'm not your day of point of contact. Food arrived 15 minutes late. My aunt was trying to get me something to eat and was rudely snapped at that he or the woman would Dismiss us to get food and that we don't just start. I have a medical condition and just need something to help me. With my small guest count the food should have still been hot, for everyone and more than half my guests said their food was cold. They were also supposed to have food on the opposite end of the room so that me and my husband could eat without someone talking to us the whole time and instead the food line was right next to the sweetheart table. There were concerns prior to the wedding day of a few family members being cut off which they needed to be and my photographer was told no either everyone can drink or they should close the bar because they didn't see an issue with the family member in question, who later admitted they were very under the influence. The final straw for me is I had the rental from 9:30 to 7pm. They allowed 3 strangers to just walk Into the barn during my time. Yes we were ending but we were ending earlier. The lady told me oh I'm sorry I never thought they would just walk in. I felt like a nuisance the entire day and everything felt off. The setting was beautiful, everything else left a lot to be desired. I wish there was more communication day of. I also sent my concerns via email and have been ignored so now I'm writing about my experience. Many Brides had great weddings here but this was my experience. I was a 2020 court house bride and wanted a beautiful wedding. I had such high hope when I booked and then rebooked due to...
Read moreI had heard about the Railroad House – word of mouth has made it's way, however Marietta is not really very close to travel there just for dinner.
So feeling adventurous last Saturday we happened out for the day – and found ourselves within striking distance of Marietta.
The Railroad house is beautiful, in an old restored - quaint hotel along the railroad tracks along Front St. Everything from start to finish was warm and wonderful, friendly greeted and served.
I am often suspect of themed décor, it often comes off as kitschy or tacky – getting a décor right is a fine art. You want something that is of interest and perhaps a theme and that is also warm and inviting. Sometimes it can just be the slightest things that throw it off, and then it is just uncomfortable.
The railroad house gets it right, yes it’s a railroad theme, but it’s somewhat muted. The building is old and full of character – and they let that character shine through. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic night out – or a family celebration. It is really very interesting inside and out – with some lovely garden seating under the lights in the summer evenings.
The food here was impeccable – keep in mind this was a single visit and we are probably not to return for some while, due to logistics. There were ample 1st rate artisan made craft beers along with some very creative and delicious house made specialty cocktails.
Came here with the girlfriend and her 2 children, and all can be discerning eaters. We started with the crab dip with pork belly and it was devoured with voracity – I wasn’t sure how the pork belly was going to play with crab and cheese – but I found it delightful!
I am not going to do a play by play on each of the meals – however I can say they were artfully crafted with care by someone with the utmost respect for food, the customer and their craft. All of our meals were stunning, delicious and wonderful! – we really had a wonderful time here.
Such a wonderful place and the food! – plus the history, we will be looking for excuses to return here again, albeit it won’t be soon because of the distance – but we will figure out a way to return...
Read moreFor context of this review my family and I(a party of 5 total) went to their easter brunch. The reason for such a low review isn't for the taste of the food. The food was average and nothing was bad, nothing was special though. We had booked the time of 3pm, with the understanding that the brunch was from 11am-3pm. We arrived and quickly started eating, as there was minimal amounts of food left. I understand that we chose the latest time we could, but we didn't sign up for the leftover scraps. We had one pass through of the buffet before they stopped replacing the food. The desserts were going quickly and we got minimal reassurance that we would be allowed to have the same dessert selection as everyone else. Besides this, there was a family seated in the basement, all the way from the basement to our table we were able to hear this family's children screaming and playing the entire meal. Dead serious, these people did not control their kids and for the whole hour we were there these two kids screamed. Not a single worker/manager said anything to this family and the screaming persisted for the whole 50 mins we were there. we were told about 30 mins into our meal that we would have 15 mins before they started cleaning up. And when the bill arrived there was a 20% gratuity added for the server who talked to us 4 times, one of which included him giving us water and seating us, and the other 3 instances were him asking us if we needed anything. He didn't serve us, and barely helped us with anything except to warn us that we were on a timer. As well as a $30 service fee charged. I understand the stress that comes with it being easter and toward the end of the shift, but if I am paying full price I expect...
