I was very disappointed with my dinning experience here. I waited a couple of days to write this so I could sleep on it because I was rather upset when my family left that evening.
First off I would like to say that I am not saying these things to nitpick because I am an angry person but an establishment known as well as Walt's in Marion really should live up to it's reputation.
Food
The food was pretty good. The taco nachos were warm and tasty. Most of out party was pleased with their actual meals as well except for the double decker pizza. I understand business and the need to make a profit but when you are being charged that much for a double decker pizza that really isn't any bigger than a hand tossed one from a chain down the street, that can be disappointing. Plus when we got it, it wasn't even hot. It wasn't cold but I have had better luck with hot food delivered across town.
Atmosphere
We were put in a room at the back of the restaraunt due to the size of our party. I understand there is limited area's that can handle a group of 15 but we didn't even have our tables pushed together and everyone had to split up. If you can't get us all at one table or at least try pushing some together then why not just put us out where there is air flow and we aren't sweating. We were hotter than the pizza.
Service
This is really where the evening fell flat. I understand that servers can get busy so they have other employee's deliver the food when it comes out. However it is still the server's responsibility to make sure the food is correct and with served to the correct individual. One of my daughters only requested a chef's salad as her meal. She got it early before anyone else got their food and we asked for it to be served with the rest of the meals. She also asked for no tomatoes or onions and this had both. We informed them and they said they would bring a correct one out with the meals. It came back still with tomatoes the second time. She picked around the best she could but asked me not to say anything because she has a fear that if you complain they do stuff to your food. This same daughter asked for a refill of her Dr. Pepper. The server took her cup and then completely forgot about her. When I said something to someone else, they told our server and I could see the eye roll from the table when she got a new glass and soda. My other daughter's small pizza was delivered to the wrong people (still in our group) and then when it was discovered because we thought we were still waiting on her's, half of it was eaten already. She didn't want to wait for a new pizza so she ate what was left but was a bit upset. I understand it was delivered to the right area but once again, its the server's responsibility to make sure the correct food is served to the correct customer.
After all of this, out ticket, which was 6 people, was automatically charged around 18% gratuity. I am not against tipping what is deserved to servers but when you get poor service you should give a poor tip. A tip is not a guaranteed amount or the service would be horrible everywhere. People should earn their money and I feel like our server didn't really care because she knew she was going to...
Read moreYesterday for dinner, my husband wanted a Rueben sandwich and I wanted pizza. The last time we ordered delivery from Walt’s, the pizza was luke warm, at best, and seemed old. Not sure why, but we thought we would give it another try since neither of us wanted to go out. I called and after at least 10 rings, a female answered. The amount of noise in the background was incredible and she could barely hear me. I ordered a Rueben sandwich, a large potato salad and a large double decker meat eaters pizza. $56!! It didn’t dawn on me why it was sooo expensive until the less-than-happy delivery driver arrived because the last time we ordered from Walt’s, it was $45. What we received was some ungodly RUEBEN PIZZA that we didn’t even know existed, the double decker meat eaters pizza and a large potato salad. My husband immediately called Walt’s to speak to a manager. He spoke with “Nick” who, after hearing my husband’s complaint, stated they don’t even have Rueben sandwiches on their menu. (Please check out the FULL MENU here on google, it’s there. I originally posted this review a month ago.) Nick took care of it and refunded the amount of that Rueben Pizza, that we did not order. Thank you, Nick. The double decker meat eaters pizza was just ok. I don’t think we will ever order from Walt’s or go to the restaurant again. It’s my understanding that this place used to be “IT” for good pizza. Not sure what happened. I don’t care to pay so much for just so-so food. If you want great pizza and service, try T-Moes in Johnston City! Walt’s pizza currently rivals just...
Read moreWe were in Marion today picking up an item I had purchased. I don't recall having been there before. We were starving. The parking lot was pretty full for a Sunday evening at 530. We figured it would be super good. Walt's has a bar/family restaurant combo kind of feel. It is DARK inside in most areas. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to see the BLACK menu! Our server was overworked and frazzled. I was a server for a long time in my youth so I knew the look. Our food took an hour, which is really unacceptable in my opinion. My fiance had the double decker supreme pizza which he said was not that great. He is a real pizza lover so I'd take that seriously. Folks in Marion must like it cause there were a lot of pizzas going to tables. I got the 13oz ribeye with a Walt's Italian salad and mashed cauliflower. The salad was really good, if a bit peppery, but I like that. The cauliflower was excellent. The steak. Ah the steak. Perfection. I have had a steak made the way I like it maybe 5 times in my life. They nailed it. And it was so freakin good. This A1 addict was actually eating a steak without it. It was smothered in sauteed mushrooms and they were good too. So I guess bring a flashlight and your cheater glasses. Try the ribeye. You won't regret it. (I failed to mention that the steak was $25. A bit steep but worth it.) Our bill totalled $64 give or take and I had a bloody Mary, my fiance had half a pizza (medium) to take home, I had leftover steak and...
