Grandpa’s Bagels — Restaurant in Marlboro Township

That's it, I'm only going here for my bagels. I went on a whim because I can't eat another Instagram monstrosity from the other trendy shops. I know a deluge of gooey cheese and fruit loops dripping out a Captain Crunch bagel will garner a lot of likes on TikTok, but good lord, who eats that crap? I like a well done pork roll egg and cheese on a everything bagel, my wife got a bacon egg and cheese on a sesame bagel, and my two young kids shared a toasted plain with strawberry butter. Yes, everything was delicious, but the bagels are special here. These are not the bleached, bloated bagels you find elsewhere, these were crunchy outside with a super satisfying chew and did not sit as heavy after digesting. I would be perfectly happy eating a plain bagel with butter here--I cant say that about any other bagel in the area. There are a lot of people saying the bagels are expensive on here. I think it's the breakfast sandwiches that are way too expensive. They're charging $1 for each vegetable add-on to a sandwich - which is more expensive that Manhattan! A slice of cheese, tomato, lettuce and onion will bring your base egg+bagel from $5 to $9! Then avocado is $2.50 for a slice. I'm sorry but maybe they're aiming too high for a basic breakfast meal.

That being said, their bagels are very tasty (tried the jalapeno cheddar) but they're more along the lines of Einstein Bros bagels than regular New York bagels (at Bagel World). If you want a 'crunch' in your bagel - this is the place to come.

Grandpa Bagels are BIG! So fresh and come in many different ones; Jalapeno Cheese has real cheese and jalapenos, Za'tar, Garlic, Asiago (LOTS of cheese on top). They have limited time flavor offerings like Chocolate Orange, etc. I love getting to the center of the cheese bagels and getting a whole big bite of cheese. Different fresh cream cheese to choose from. Family atmosphere - SUPER FRIENDLY! You feel at home. They go above and beyond in these crazy times to give you good customer service (which is hard to find these days). This is my new and forever bagel spot.
