Friends have been recommending this restaurant to me for years. One night on my trip home from Norman, I decided to stop for some dinner at la Esperanza. I ordered a dish that came with a tamale, because I've been craving tamales. I knew it was far more food than I could eat, but I also knew that it would be a meal for the next day. I switched out the cheese enchilada for a second tamale, and the rest of the meal consisted of a beef burrito, and a chicken enchilada. The chicken enchilada was delicious, the chicken was tender and tasty. The beef burrito was delicious as well, the ground beef was perfectly spiced. The tamales, the focus of my visit, were okay. Both tamales only had pork in one half of the tamale. It was thick masa, and part of it was nothing but masa. Maybe they were in a rush. I'm willing to cut them slack, because the other food was remarkable compared to many Mexican restaurants. I'll visit here again, I'll just not order the tamales!

This is a hole in the wall restaurant. Food doesn't impress me, but the customers are. Saw the next table, young family. when their kid got fuzzy, the server brought toys to the kid. When they left. they not only left toys on the table but also gathered all the dishes for the server easy to carry. Friendly customers in this small community.

From. The food to the service and the atmosphere was all amazing. If you haven't stopped in to try this restaurant it is for sure worth a try. The waitress did very well it was semi busy when we got there but she didn't miss a beat she was on top of the refills to asking if we needed anything. Very nice place to stop in and eat at.

Mediocre at best. I guess I have a different preference on how I like Mexican food, so my review is just my opinion. I spent $80, with a kids meal missing, turns out they never added it to the order. The best thing was the free chips. Got 2 Fajita dinners (#46 on menu) it rang up for $51. The menu online obviously doesn't reflect current prices as they should've been $18 each. The tortillas taste and smell like store bought tortillas. Literally taco mayo has better tortillas lol the kids meals chicken strips were a joke. The thinnest strip I've EVER seen. We literally laughed when we saw them and our kid said the strips and fries had no flavor. Extremely plain. Their "queso blanco" is runny and wasn't even warm. This is also our very first try at this restaurant and our last. We will definitely do the extra 10 min drive to go to Don Jose's! I guess that's what my issue was, I had Don Jose hopes but instead feel like I got bamboozled with what I just wasted my money on. 😂 Very nice...

Let me first say I have been here on days that everything was fantastic, but, last night the floors were dirty, the food was below standards and didn't have any real flavor to it, the salt shaker was empty and had a salty film on the inside when we asked for it to be filled or for salt to be brought to the table, we got back the same dirty shaker half filled with salt. The waitress was slow and never asked if we needed refills or how things were. The dinners my friend and I had were specials and yet we were charged 2 dollars a plate more than the special price on the wall. I know everyone and everyplace has a bad day but Minday was a horrible day for this restaurant and...
