My family had never tried this restaurant so we drove from out of town to try it for my dads birthday. The young man who sat us was very friendly & did a good job selling us the special entree for the night of prime rib. Our waiter was friendly & attentive the whole night. She knew a lot about the menu & was happy to answer our questions. We had a good experience & were looking forward to trying it again until the end of the meal. My mom had brought a home made cake to celebrate my dads birthday as she has every year. At the end of the meal, the manager came up with plates (out of nowhere, that we didn’t ask for) & said “We usually charge people a dessert fee.” My mom replied “I’m sorry it’s our first time here.” He replied “I guess I won’t charge it this time.” He then sat down the plates & walked away. Now I understand this may be a policy & that is totally understandable. He sells dessert & wants people to buy them. However, in customer service there is a way to politely handle that situation. He didn’t ask us how our meal was, ask if it was our first time visiting, ask if there was a birthday, tell my dad happy birthday, or tell us about any of his own dessert. My family all looked at each other confused when he walked away because it was such an odd experience. It felt like we were in the principals office getting scolded. In the future, I hope they find a better way to communicate with their guests. I would’ve understood completely if he had simply said “is it someone’s birthday tonight y’all? We are so glad you guys decided to try us out tonight for your birthday. We have a large variety of deserts here including A, B, & C. There is usually a dessert fee for outside desserts but tonight we won’t charge that since you guys were unaware. Next time we hope you guys try our dessert. You should try the tiramisu, It’s a favorite around here!!” We are new to the Duncan area & would’ve enjoyed having a cute dates night restaurant so close. Unfortunately, I don’t think I want to...
Read moreMy husband and I took the trip to visit Guiseppe's after reading about this authentic Italian restaurant in Marlow, OK. Guiseppe's restaurant has a certain pleasantly antiquated charm. You can really tell that the building and stonework belonged to a bank earlier in the day, and is quite a neat and open atmosphere. The servers and managers are very nice, accommodating, and strive to please each patron. My husband, who visited Italy, mentioned that the dishes tasted authentic to Italian dishes, but with their own 'spin' on the meals. We ordered their Antipasti, Seafood Lasagna, Straw & Hay Pasta w/ Pesto Sauce, and their Tiramisu, to get a good range of their flavors and expertise.
The antipasti was surprisingly large and fulfilling, and really shined in their olives, peppers, and pepperoni. If you get this, I highly recommend combining it with their homemade bread and creating your own 'Italian Sandwich'. The seafood lasagna was okay, a little decadent (as expected of a lasagna), but could use more seafood flavors infused into it. My personal favorite was the Straw & Hay Pasta and cannot imagine it with anything else other than their Pesto Sauce, which we had to sub in. Their Tiramisu was creamy and tasted like a true, coffee Tiramisu infused cake.
And another pro was that their meals were appropriately priced (perhaps even more affordable than other 'Italian' restaurants in Oklahoma City), so it was not terribly expensive! I do not know if I would drive all the way to Marlow to eat here again, but if our journey took us to Guiseppe's, we would very much...
Read moreFive of us had a family dinner on on a recent Saturday night. We arrived a bit late (they officially close at 8:00 0'clock) at 7:10 but they were able to seat us near another larger group. Two of us tried the local (Cotton Blossom) wines and then we had dinner. Everyone liked their entrees and the portions are hefty so my Mom was able to take some pasta home for leftovers. We had a bottle of Chianti which went well with the fare. I had the sausage and peppers dish and found the sausage to be delicious (the sausage is custom made to their recipe). My wife had the steak, two had the eggplant parmesan (also delicious!) and one had the fettuccine alfredo. We finished up well past close but never felt pressured or harried in any way. The atmosphere is very accommodating--it is laid back but still formal enough that it feels upscale. Several couples were in the restaurant dressed smartly like they had been or were going to the movie and there were also folks just coming in for a bite in casual attire. We have dined at Giuseppe's many times over the years and have not been disappointed yet. This meal was particularly significant (three generations present) and Giuseppe's did a great job to make the...
