Mariachi Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Martinez

Don't get the three star wrong this place is amazing. Today, however, it's the service that's getting the bad review. I got off work at five got home and relaxed from work, at about 5:37 I called in... Phone was busy. I waited about ten called again... Phone was busy. At this point I had a feeling someone had disconnected the phone so I waited about an hour from my initial call... Still busy. Finally, against my better judgement I went in. I needed my tacos. The lady who greeted me was slightly jaded, I could see the pain on her face as she tried to throw a smile on her face and greet me. I order sit and wait, catch some looks from the less than intimidating cook, a younger Latino man. I watched him sloppily throw some precooked meat on the grill and add a little water to steam it to temp. Finally the lady had my food in hand, skip to home, which is literally a five minute walk away... I happened to drive cause I need my tacos. The food was lukewarm, still tasty, but I'm writing this now with a sour stomach..... I will go back, but the owner should address...

I went here yesterday right when they opened. It was my first time. I ordered the burrito de bistec regular and the crispy taco de pollo. Wow, yum. The burrito was the star, so juicy and packed with fresh cilantro and what I think may have been garlic. They were both really good though. I also want to add that the girl who was working was such a ray of sunshine. She was so warm and kind. She even made me some containers of salsa verde when I didn't see there was a salsa bar. I ordered a super shrimp burrito 🌯. It tasted good, it was heavy on rice and beans but light on shrimp... 🤦 They now charge for chips.. 😲💰💰 I don't think they used to..

I looked at the sign by the cash register and thought that all the appetizers listed were individual sized at $2.50..

After I paid and sat down I realized I paid $4.99 for a small plate of tortilla chips and a small bowl of beans.. Shame on me for not asking the price..
