Steakhouse x Speakeasy — My parents, grandparents and I all dined in the Speakeasy area on December 28 to celebrate my dad’s birthday. Our evening exceeded my expectations; the drinks and appetizers were wonderful. Each of our meals were some of the best we’ve had; their Japanese A5 Wagyu Strip was hands-down, the most exquisite cut of A5 Wagyu beef I’ve tasted. All of the sides we ordered paired wonderfully with the flavor profiles of our entrees, creating a symphony of tastes on the palate. Furthermore, after all was said and done, the variety of desserts and drink pairings available added another level to the culinary exploration.
Our server, whose name escapes me, was very prompt, helpful, and all-around kind — this made our experience that much better. He was able to answer any questions we had, offer recommendations, and speak to the history of the Oglebay Resort.
Trace Chophouse and its staff should be proud of the experience they’ve developed at Oglebay. Simply, I’ve come to appreciate the experience of sharing in fine dining with those closest to me, and I knew this restaurant was going to shine at the occasion. It rivals establishments I’ve patronized in Pittsburgh, Columbus and Cleveland.
I tip my hat to you, my friends, for making Trace Chophouse more than just a restaurant — it is an...
Read moreMy fiancé brought me to eat here after he proposed on my birthday. We were given “complimentary champagne” but were charged $20 for it. It had already taken a while to get the check and we didn’t have time to correct it, as he planned a family get together after. The food was okay. To my surprise, I received a half chicken. The skin was slimy and didn’t have a lot of flavor. My partner opted for the pork chop. After dinner, he mentioned that he likes Longhorn’s cowboy pork chops better. There were only three desserts, none of which appealed to us. It was $175. For two entrees, a side, one glass of wine, two glasses of champagne, and tip. The service was slow but good. I didn’t understand the special box of knives that is handled with white gloves, especially because it wasn’t white glove service. The effort is there, the place looks great, but the...
Read moreAfter a highly anticipated trip to Trace Chophouse at Ogelby, we left more than satisfied. Started with the bone marrow and clams casino, both delicious! Next was lobster bisque, safe to say there was nothing left the spoon could retrieve. We shared the A5 Wagyu, literally melted in the mouth. Highly recommend! Finally was the ribeye. Perfectly cooked. Could’ve been a little thicker but all in all very good. It was accompanied by the Diane sauce, also wonderful. For sides we got the mash and creamed spinach. Possibly best creamed spinach I’ve ever had. Service was amazing, Kristen went above and behind. It’s hard for me to give Ogelby any kind of praise, but the did a wonderful...
