I live 40 minutes away and always enjoyed making a trip to Mamies at least once a month. We have raved about the food to our friends and make frequent recommendations because of the portion sizes and taste. Dining area is small and wait time seems a little excessive for amount of customers, but food made up for the small inconveniences. However, our last experience will be our final trip. My family and I went for breakfast and I had very clearly ordered the same thing I always get, which was a small breakfast mess. The girl taking my order wrote that I ordered a Grand Canyon mess. When the order finally came to the table, I noticed it wasn't what I ordered. The waiter argued with me and said that it was similar (It costs more, had extras such as queso, sausage, Italian dressing, and mushrooms) not similar at any rate, and I explained that I can't have some of those ingredients. He continued to argue with me and said he asked the girl who took the order, and she said she remembers me ordering that. Her word against mine. Eventually, waiter slapped down what I originally ordered in front of me and tapped the receipt for emphasis. Very rude service. Seemed like new staff this time. I am very very disappointed. Ended up having to pay for what I didn't order as well. Not sure who is in charge of this establishment, but at this rate they will lose what good thing they had going if this kind of...
Read morebelow is one of my original reviews which is an understatement to how awesome this place is. I have recently moved to Florida and miss this place so much I cannot tell you. I am in constant search for equality Bakery Restaurant like this in my new town and have not been able to find one. Please support this place as it is one of a kind.
I am a Mamies expert! I live in Saxton and savor the day Mamies opened. I love good quality food and this place, although a small coffee shop setting, competes with the elite fancy restaurants when it comes to the food. I have spent... well im not going to say how much I've spent here but, I can tell you the BURGERS are better than Five Guys, Fridays, Ruby's or any other chain I've been to. The SALADS are huge and wonderful, the BAKED GOODS are all perfect. And BREAKFAST is better than homemade.
As to the value, you definitely get more than you pay for! Some items may seem pricey but that is because there is nothing to compare them to. A glazed doughnut for example may be $1. However it is at least twice as big as Duncan Donuts and crazy better! I would rather have 1/2 of a homemade doughnut here than a dozen at anywhere else in Blair County.
Hope this...
Read moreFood was underwhelming. My partner ordered the upside down pineapple pancakes. It looked like pancakes with a pile of canned products dumped on top.
I ordered the big one and asked for the potatoes to be cooked hard. The potatoes came out cooked but floppy. I felt like I was eating undercooked French fries, not breakfast potatoes
The arrangement was quite odd. Instead of being seated you ordered your food in a separate part of the building and sat yourself. This isn’t a problem but you must yell your order to an employee so they can hear you over the kitchen
Lastly, it took ages to check out. They have a binder filled with the menu items via a bar code. I feel the lady checking me out deliberately took her time ringing the check. She even scanned the wrong item that cost significantly more. I asked her to fix it politely and she still incorrectly scanned the wrong item that also had an up-charge.
Card users beware: they charge you a fee to use your card and do not tell you.
For $50 meal. I did not receive that nor...
