1978 New York Pizzeria — Restaurant in Maryland

Have ordered wings from them before and the wings were delicious. Decided to try their pizza, since they're known around the area for their pizza; now I wish I hadn't. This is by far the worst pizza I've ever bought. It was incredibly greasy, so greasy the back of the box was soaked in grease. Called the place to let them know whoever is making the pizza is screwing up, and to tell them I don't want another pizza nor do I want my money back; I just wanted to let them know so they could fix the problem. The guy on the phone got VERY defensive and kept telling me he made the pizza himself and that it was 'crispy', crispiness was never the issue. He then proceeded to try to blame the driver for the mistake. Listen, I get that sometimes drivers screw up and perhaps the pizza wasn't handled like a newborn child; but it still doesn't change the fact that the pizza is so greasy even the cheese is falling off it. I wasn't even going to leave this review, but the fact that the guy on the phone refused to take any responsibility for his mistake had me fuming. The pizza was barely edible as I had to scoop ingredients back onto whatever slices I could, you'll notice most of the ingredients slid to the bottom portion of the pizza; including most of the cheese. I also had to let the pizza get cold, so the cheese would stop falling off, and had to dab the pizza with paper towel to dry off some of the grease. I will NEVER order from this place again nor will I eat there, which is a shame because they're suppose to be the best pizza place in town. All I wanted was an apology and that he'll do better next time, that's it, and I would've never taken this photo nor would I have bothered to leave this review; because after all everyone makes mistakes from time to time.

Pro tip if you're the pizza guy that made this pizza and you're reading this. Next time you add greasy ingredients to the pizza(like bacon or prosciutto), make sure to remove as much of the grease as possible before adding them to the pizza. It will solve...

First time trying this place. Last time trying this place. No idea why this place is rated so high.

Got pizza and knots from here today. Rather disappointed.

First of all, poor customer service. Young dude at the counter had two ear-pods in, mask half down his chin (mask mandate in effect again in AAco). Barely said two words to me and he and the other dudes were yelling to each other across the restaurant the entire time. Okay fine.

The pizzas they had on the counter for order-by-the-slice looked gross. Like sitting there all day gross. Pretty sure I picked my order up a little after noon.

Get home to this (see images). Pizza looked gross, like the cheese was melted but... looked like plastic. Didn't stay on the pizza at all just sloughed off immediately (poor sauce to cheese ratio). Dough is like rubber. Toppings portion was decent. Good coverage on most slices.

Garlic knots are smothered in this GROSS "butter" sauce and again are rubbery. Dough is not as bad as the pizza crust rubbery, but still I don't know why it's like this. I say butter in quotes because it looks yellowish like butter, maybe kinda resembles the taste of butter, doesn't solidify like butter when cold, and just again tastes plastic/rubbery fake.

Portions are pretty good and the price is...okay....but considering how gross this place is. I really tried hard to find that second star...

I’ve been chasing after the same experience many people claim to have coming here and I keep missing it. Pizza first time. It was ok, certainly not my first choice when ordering pizza in the Dena. Second time, Pene Primavera, I had high expectations and found it to be bland and disappointing- I thought maybe it was an off day. Tried for that awesome food and experience again tonight and who knows how it is, by the time I got home, my soggy bottom brown bag that was laying flat in my car prompted me to pull the dish out and that’s when I noticed the lid wasn’t closed all the way. My $12 dollar “fresh” garlic and butter pene pasta looked more like $12 cooked, dry pene noodles and now my car is dripping in butter. I threw a tip on my receipt before I left, Mainly because each time I’ve been there everyone seems to be miserable, not once have I been greeted in a nice or friendly manner. I’ve felt nothing but uncomfortable and as if I’m an annoyance for just picking up my food and saying thank you! I never post reviews that are bad, I do feel gypped and had I complained, I doubt anything would come of it based on the interactions I’ve had there. I was hoping for better. I think I struck out...
