Went here for a family dinner on a sunday. Reservations were made ahead of time so there was no wait to get seated. Waitress was fun and delightful, treated our party well and made us feel extremely welcome.
Drink selection was the usually for draft beer. A couple of real crafts, fat tire and heavy seas, were nice options. Fresh and warm bread was included. For the dinner i order a blackened Mahi-mahi with a lemon sauce on rice with coleslaw and a cup of cream of crab. Asked if the soup could come out first with the salads and rest of the appetizers (request was granted).
The cram of crab was excellent. Was particularly impressed with the size of the lump pieces in it. I was slightly disappointed with the fish. When it arrived, i initially thought the portion size was a bit small for the type of dish (should note that this was a special), but it ended up being just perfect. The fish had a superb taste and texture (moist and flakey) with the lemon sauce complementing it just right. The rice also added a nice flavor and texture. My only complaint was the blackening, i am used to a blacked dish being well blackened and spicy. This on the other hand was not hardly blackened and the spice/hotness was lacking. However take the blackened description off the name of it and you still have a great fish dish that i would still order. Coleslaw was the usual fair (how can you mess it up).
Normally i don't have deserts, but after the desert tray was brought out i think we all changed out minds that night. I order a Chocolate Fudge Cake with a Raspberry Sauce. When it arrive, it was at least twice the size that was presented on the desert tray, and far better than i expected.
Even though this is a bit of a drive out of my way, i would consider returning again (also helps i have family near by). The location is in a shopping center at the east end of 100 so it's easy to get to. The dining area is a medium size but east to get around. While i didn't;t have a chance to really take it in, the bar seems nice and big, with plenty of room. Hopefully i'll have the chance to...
Read moreFirst time being here. I am a steak guy, so I was looking forward to trying this place for my birthday. I was told by somebody to try the prime rib since I had never had one before. So I like my steak med-well, yet my steak was still all pink, really watery with absolutely no grill marks!,.I didn't complain because at past places when asked to cook it longer they ALWAYS over cook it, so I just ate it. Wasn't that bad after covering it with black pepper. Did not finish it though. Was too chewy for my taste and seemed like I was eating raw meat,.maybe the prime rib just isn't for me. Anyway, I had a crock of french onion which waste awesome and their side salad was pretty huge, but just covered in way too much shredded cheese and no tomatoes, yet they did give me a sufficient amount of dressing on the side, most places don't. I had the clams casino as an appetizer and it was also very good, but just a tad watery, yet very yummy! The glass of a basic Cabernet was a bit high at $14, which is the cost of the whole bottle of this brand at the liquor store. Everything came out very fast and the steak was timed perfectly as I was finishing my soup and app. Ohh,.I almost forgot,.make sure you get the roasted red potatoes as one of your sides! Not asking you,.I am TELLING you!, They were charred very nicely. The waiter was a kid and he did ok until his supposed girlfriend showed up in an adjacement booth sipping a cappuccino. He spent more time over there with her unless you waved his attention and then he would go right back. I left him $20 of a $90 meal,.so I may have over tipped him a bit for his service, but I can't help it,.I'm a very decent tipper. All in all was good experience and I am looking forward to going back and maybe trying the coffee rubbed rib eye or porterhouse with cream of crab soup maybe and different appetizer and sides just to mix it up a bit. Very decent place for steak and seafood, but bring the good credit card cuz you'll average about...
Read moreI turned 65 this year and wanted to celebrate it with my wife, daughter, her husband, family and friends. I made reservations 10 days in advance for 10 people at 700 pm on Saturday 2.23. While making the reservations I asked and was ASSURED that there would be Prime Rib available. The restaurant called me the day of my reservation to confirm and they again ASSURED me there would be Prime Rib available. We made the trip from Albany, NY the day before. We arrived before 700 and were promptly seated. We ordered cocktails, which took 15-20 minutes to get to our table, I asked specifically for a dry Beefeaters martini, they served me a wet Tangeray. We ordered our dinners, then our waitress returned to announce they had run OUT OF Prime Rib......myself and five of my guests had ordered it....they didn't even have one left! I just wanted a prime rib dinner for my 65 birthday, I reluctantly ordered a 20oz porterhouse that was thinner than my pinky finger. I spoke with the manager later, he made a litany of excuses, but the fact remained they ASSURED me there would be prime rib and there was NONE! He told me he'd comp my meal, I said that's NOT the point, he gave another excuse, then I asked him to tell the waitress to not announce it to the table, she did anyway. Very disappointing evening, for such a highly rated...
