Wednesday Happy Hour just got a Whole new Vibe: Famous Lounge in Upper Marlboro MD. where everyone is treated like the VIP (and Famous).
"Should I go, should I not," I pondered in this time of uncertainty. But I am glad I did, because Famous Lounge is a whole vibe that once you get inside, its nothing but good food, good drinks, great service (Thanks to the Bartender/Host Angel), and crankin music by DJ Juice and DJ Cory Cranks.
So lets start with my favorite, FOOD. I ordered the oxtails which came with a choice of two sides. I accompanied the tasty dish with Rice Jollof and Plantains. I mean if you gonna go there, you gotta go there all the way. The food came out hot and was good. There is a happy hour menu that includes a famous burger, Grilled Chicken sandwich, Chicken Wings (of course) tossed in a variety of flavors, and your typical bar food. But like I said, I did not come to play, Oxtails was a B+ for me. By the looks at everyone else's plates, sitting at my table, I would say those got good ratings as well.
Next, The drinks. Look you can NEVER go wrong with $5.00 happy hour specials. Especially when it is Ciroc, Hennessy, Don Julio, and Beer. Now I will admit that I have outgrown Hennessy (lol). But I did have about 3 shots of Don Julio, and at only 5 bucks; I bought a round for my whole table. I was feeling real Grown Man-ish and it only cost me 30.00 to do it (LMAO). There are plenty of drink options from Apothic Wine to Moscow and Mexican Mules. I woud have to say though, the Famous Punch is a winner. Those of us who remember the Ciroc Punch from the good old days at that spot in Bowie (can't be plugging other spots) will find this drink Nostalgic and just as good.
Last but not least, The Music. DJ Cory Cranks never disappoints. His soundtrack keeps the party going, and even if you are socially distancing, sipping a cocktail, or just in chill mode, you cant help to dance in your seat with some of the classics "HE BE SPINNING" Occiassionally, I found myself getting up to a "Thats my Jam" and broke out into a Running Man, Cabbage Patch, or Hee-Haw (dont judge me, judge yo momma...LMAO). [SIDE-BAR] It doesnt hurt that some of the most beautiful women come out for DJ Cory Cranks groove. I know I had some stunnas at my table, hence the round of shots.
Seriously, the vibe at Famous Lounge was amazing. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. Folks was at ease, speaking to one another from a safe, socially distance place. The seating is comfortable, and the decor was nice. You could tell they took some time in making sure Famous Lounge has a certain look and ambiance. When they say it is the "Best DMV Happy Hour" they arent telling a lie. I would put it in my top 10 of "BEST DAMN HAPPY...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could rate the DJ/MC I would give him a 5. He was spectacular and made my night enjoyable. As for the lounge, I was very disappointed. I just feel like if I pay for a table, I want above and beyond service. I was told āThere are no reservations for tablesā and when I got there, ALL the other tables I would have liked to move to, were āreservedā š¤·š½āāļø My table was right next to the speakers where you couldnāt hear. I couldnāt hear the table girl even while she was taking our orders. It shouldnāt have been a big deal to move my company to another table when there were more than 5 tables available and the guest still havenāt arrived yet. Since there is no assigned seating, they wouldnāt have known where they were sitting until they got there just like I did. On top of that, the seats were torn down and ratchet looking. Not the quality of a seating section for a bottle starting at $250 to sit somewhere that was damn near as rough looking as the side walk. The pictures on the website definitely need to be updated because the picture they have and what it really looks like is false advertisement. On top of that, my section wasnāt big enough for 10 people like I stated when asked. What was the point of asking?
I wanted to leave and my friends convinced me to stay because I feel like had I came into the city, from the outside to the inside BACK to the outside, it would have looked a lot better and well put together for the same amount of money spent. On top of that, the chicken was dry and fries were ok.
Like stated before the only plus was the music and free parking. I donāt see myself going there again. After looking at ALL the lounges in the DMV, I chose that location and it was also recommended to me. It was such a disappointment.
The biggest disappointment is I reached out to the manager, the same one who āreservedā my table, to inform her that a friend of mines lost something and to see if it had been turned. This was on Monday. It has been 5 days now and I still havenāt heard anything back and we even left a message on the main number on Monday as well. Now I bet if I text I wanted a table, I would receive a response.
No offense but you all need to work on communication, customer service, and the presentation of your business. Update the site with the run down pictures of how it really looks or spend the money to improve your tables and seating sections so pictures can be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited Famous Lounge and Restaurant yesterday to host a birthday celebration, and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish.
For two weeks leading up to the event, I called the restaurant daily with no answer and left multiple messages that were never returned. Eventually, I had to show up in person just to speak with someone about basic details like food platters, age restrictions, reservations, and the advertised Monday night entertainment (DJ and karaoke). I was told to contact the manager, Ms. V, to inquire about platters and pricing. I called no answer, and once again, no call back.
Despite all the red flags, I decided to go ahead and invite my friends and family for the celebration. I arrived at 7:00 PM on Monday. The lounge was empty, not a big deal since it was a weekday. But there was no DJ, just a radio playing behind the bar. When I asked about the DJās arrival time, I was told heād start at 7:30 PM. At 7:15, still no sign of him setting up. I asked again, only to be told after the bartender made a call that the DJ wasn't coming at all. The bartender stated to the person on the phone that, there were customers there expecting a DJ and Karaoke as advertised. No back up DJ was an option.
I had to frantically call and text everyone to cancel the celebration just 10 minutes before they were supposed to arrive. It was humiliating.
To make matters worse, the lounge itself was in poor condition dirty tables, torn chairs, and outdated furniture. The entire place looked like it hadn't been properly maintained.
I will never return to this establishment, and I would not recommend it to anyone. Management needs to seriously step up. This was unprofessional, embarrassing, and just downright disappointing.
The security guard was nice though. He apologized for the inconvenience. No other staff or restaurant manger said a word about my experience. They didn't offer an apology or...
