Hip Hop Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in Maryland

I hate to say it but the food at this here particular location was complete trash!! I ordered 4 family size meals which was not cheap btw & had no problem spending the money because I just knew the food would be finger licking good. I was sadly disappointed to say the least. The chicken looked & tasted like it was cooked in old grease. The famous white powdered seasoning on the chicken that everyone raves about (mind you, I requested extra seasoning on everything) didn't taste right at all. It was as if it was missing a key ingredient plus it was too sweet. The chicken wings, tenders & fries were soggy, not hot and/or crispy. The hush puppies were mushy on the inside as if they were half cooked. Now, I do not live here locally & I rarely throw food away unless it is just disgusting. Well unfortunately, this was one of those times. My friends & family felt the same...

I've been ordering from here through GrubHub, and unfortunately, the last 2 orders made me sick. I ended up spitting out the chicken both times. It appears that the chicken was cooked fine, but it was left out too long, and/or not refrigerated properly, or left out too long before freezing. The chicken tastes like it was frozen, but also spoiled.

The fish was OK.... Okra was overcooked, a lot. The eggplant and cheddar poppers were fine.

I've got to knock two stars off because of the chicken. What happened? I used to love you guys! Some of the furniture is dated. The staff don't have a good habit of greeting and smiling at new arrivals. BUT, they are friendly. The food usually tastes great, and is usually hot and fresh. Visiting from Colorado originally from Oklahoma. One thing I’m always interested in is the great food I get when I come east. Decided to try this spot based on reviews. Ordered delivery through Uber Eats. Poor decision- Thoroughly thoroughly under impressed. The smallest wings I’ve ever received from a restaurant or even a grocery store for that matter. Wings were also dry, still had feathers and not sure what the white stuff is on the chicken but it’s unappealing. Is it flour?! If so… why?? Cooked in old grease. Fries are soft, bread is soggy and wet - sweated out. Coleslaw is gross. The flavor overall is just not good… only decent item was the catfish nuggets. Appeared to be fresh and cooked in fresh grease. All and all this will be our first and last time...
