Revised to Magooby's response: I enjoy Magooby's. They should better utilize their outdoor space for cases when it rains. It was terribly freezing, extremely windy, and very wet standing in the rain until they cleaned the area up from the previous show. It would have been a much better time had Magooby's considered its customers on that rainy, freezing day. Think about a cozy room or simply putting up a barrier so that customers are protected from the wind. Despite having a coat and an umbrella, the wind was extreme on the night of our show. Originally, customers were let into the lobby, but then forced out into the cold. A place that is a holding area until the next show begins would be ideal. This is only a suggestion for this company's improvement. I thought this platform was an open space to support improvement. Perhaps this club could apply for funds to renovate the property? Or make arrangements to hold customer at the Wit End which appears to have a connection to Magooby's? The performance was good. The servers were great. Just the experience of sitting outside was terrible. With this said, on rainy, windy days, and this is especially for the ladies patrons, it is better to sit out in your car. There is a vicious wind tunnel that sweeps into the side area where people are told to wait. Also, the lady who was seating people did as best she could, but there needs to be a better order to the madness of entering into the building and if this can't be remedied then at least people know what to expect from this commentary before they come out. Bathrooms were clean but very tiny. The food portions was very stingy and the drinks were watered down. I don't like iced drinks, so I requested no ice in my drink (simple pineapple juice) and it was still watered down. For the price paid, this should not happen. Doing stuff like this is just plain greedy and non caring to customers who pay good $$ all together. We still tipped the waiter, because the greed is often not their fault. Your 2nd rebuttal to words of criticism speaks volume to level of concern you have when it comes to dissatisfied customers. Instead of choosing to apologize for the watered down drink, you choose denial about MY DRINK. You offer no solution or apology to anything I mentioned - only argument and excuses or denial. There are solutions to these problems. Setting up a outside canopy with heaters in the side area is a solution. Explaining to the servers who pour the drinks to taste the batch before serving is a solution. Opening your mind to ideas is a solution. Clearly, your FAMILY business needs training in customer service and it shows because you had many seats vacant that night. Lesson #1 - The customer is always right. If you are not willing to hear the problems to help find solutions to YOUR problems, remove your business from the access of...
Read moreI purchased vip tickets to the Lavelle Dontae show on Sunday, November 24, 2024 and was the first person on site. Doors opened at 6:35 p.m., and I was standing in front of the entry doors at 6:12 p.m. Upon entry, the guy at will call (front desk) asked for my name and then proceeded to put a highlighted mark on my hand. The host walks me into the main comedic room and attempts to sit me in the second row. I asked why I was being seated there when there was a whole empty row ahead, I am the first one here, and I purchased vip tickets which include a meet and greet. She paused and says that the will call guy told her to sit me there. I told her I would not be sitting there unless she or someone could explain to me why I’m being directed to the second row. I also asked for them to explain the seating map to me…to no avail.
5 mins later, a waiter arrives and tells me before he can take my order, he has to charge my card a holding fee of $10. I asked him to explain why and he struggled to do so. I’ve been to dozens of comedy shows in the area and they’ve never charged a “holding fee” ahead of me receiving and/or eating my meal.
I don’t understand the set-up in this building or the organizational structure. But they absolutely need to get it together. My server Aiden (or maybe it was Haden) was great though.
The unprofessional response from the establishment (or owner) proves my point. A toddler whining, waking up on the wrong side of the bed and cray - were your choice words as a business establishment?? Wow; absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe you would respond in that manner knowing hundreds of people will see it. Just based on many other reviewers that have said similar, if not the same thing (there is one from someone just three days ago referencing the unprofessionalism of staff and seating issues) you chose to respond to mine with insults and hostility. Now wondering if it’s racially driven, as several other reviewers have also mentioned. It’s clear I struck a nerve but the truth will certainly set you free, and hopefully encourages you to fix these blatant issues.
Also - if the front row was reserved for the headliners family, it should have been marked RESERVED. Further, the headliner only had one other person with him - lol. Even if that were the case, you could have simply said that from the get-go when the inquiry was made. I also wasn’t the only one that had issues tonight. I’m just one who made time to leave a review. I certainly won’t be returning and will make sure that my family, who have been patrons for years, are made aware and spread the word. I certainly should’ve listened to my brother and a colleague when they said not to come here. Plenty of other venues in the area with better business acumen and...
Read moreI was thoroughly disappointed tonight. I came to celebrate my birthday with my 2 adult sons. I was so looking forward to a fun experience and came with high expectations but the young woman at the front checking us in was quick to disappoint. I came early, was probably 10th in line and paid $35 for “VIP” tickets which guaranteed a floor or 1st level seat. Neither of my boys had ever been. Last time I sat in the middle on the aisle on the first level…perfect seats. I have a slight hearing loss and being slightly back but near the middle was helpful not to miss any of the comedy. Before the young woman checked us in, she yelled at a group of folks who I think had just walked in from Wits End who were doing nothing but standing there. She was quite rude. When she turned to me and checked me in, she was going to seat us at the stage far right (near entrance). I asked if we could please sit on the first level and she said the best she could do was back of the floor far right (near entrance). I'm like I paid for VIP tickets and it said floor or first level and I just wanted to sit in the first level. She rudely told me I could come back in 15 minutes but they had to fill up the floor seats first. She also rudely told me they don’t let people pick their seats. You know what? Maybe you should. I was with my sons and wasn’t going to cause a scene. If I’d been alone, I’d have asked for a refund and a manager and I would have walked out and I know she could have cared less about any of the guests. I sat at the floor level seats right under the first level near the entrance. The floor seats were NOT filled prior to her seating others on the first level. What the heck? Maybe she was saving them for friends? I don’t think my request was unreasonable. I was also not rude and didn’t expect the rude comments in response. I was 10th in line. The whole theater was open for seating. Please thank her for ruining my special birthday evening with my sons. Definitely not the place to celebrate a special occasion. Don’t waste money on “VIP” tickets. It gets you nothing. There was not one thing about tonight that felt VIP. That’s just a money grab. I’m sure most paid $25 for their tickets. I paid $35 for nothing. Don’t make the same mistake as I did. Silly me thought I could at the least sit on the first level. Chris Titus was good. Being on the angle I was sitting to the far right of the stage near entrance, I definitely missed some of his jokes due to my hearing issue but overall he was funny. My salad with chicken was good. The quesadillas my one son had were good. The old bay wings did not impress my other son. The...
