First - I want to say that the food/coffee is great, and that Shane, and the rest of the Baristas do a fantastic job curating a welcoming atmosphere.
I do have two small "complaints" - my first is that the food packaging options are just silly - Aveley, you have outgrown the skimpy packaging. The boxes for instance, don't close properly and will pop open every time. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to spend money on delicious pastry etc, only to have it be crammed into a box that is too small, with lids that don't really ever close correctly. Alternatively, the bags that the food comes in usually scrapes half the icing off the donuts etc. Please , please, I implore you - just spend the money on different, bigger, to-go boxes. I would happily spend 10¢ extra per item.
My second complaint is that the bean treatment process creates a quite humid environment and a pretty pungent/unpleasant aroma that permeates the cafe space as the chaff is burned off.
I say this as a former restaurant and lounge owner who encountered this very issue - my 2 cents suggestion is to "toast" some already finished beans in an oven to mask the smell and make it smell more inviting while that process is happening. Throw some cocoa in there too and people won't be able to stop raving about it.
Anyway - to any potential customers reading this review - give this place a try - everything is amazing and the staff is so...
Read moreI was very excited to try Aveley Farms because there aren't many great coffee places in Timonium. Initially, I was impressed with the delicious high-end coffee and the big and beautiful space. I thought about taking my daughter because they even have kid toys and donuts with sprinkles. But there are also some pretty big turn-offs for me. The oat milk is $1 extra, and since I typically leave a tip every time I purchase a coffee, my cappucino was very expensive. It makes me frustrated when non-dairy drinkers have to pay so much extra for a coffee, especially when, these days, so many people don't drink regular milk and oat milk is cheaper or the same price. I also noticed a sign at the front of the coffee shop with prohibitions for kids. While I understand the vibe there is more adult-focused, the list of strict rules did not seem to match the welcoming basket of toys. Lastly, the parking in front of the coffee shop is all reserved for other businesses. So, I had to park a little farther away and walk with my baby (inthe rain today) across the parking lot because there are no sidewalks. It is totally okay if I am not the crowd they are aiming to please, but these are just little things that make me, as a career adult, non-dairy drinker, and mom of young children, not interested in going here often. If you are in a different crowd though, you will probably love the drinks and vibe. My cappucino...
Read moreHas potential but needs... Sound proofing boards Way more staff Better coffee fixin's options for creamers Better way to communicate when the order is ready
Went there today and waited 32min for my sandwich. The coffee creamer was only one option and it curtled in my coffee, atmosphere was way too loud, could not hear my order called. Also a lot of packaging waste in the order, comes in a box could really just be in wax paper. The food was good, but service very slow, needs way more staff. Not enough seating, which is confusing because plenty of room to place more seating. I'll try again in 1+ months to see if they have their flow better. I think they may be working some kinks out since just opened. I like the lighting and bathrooms were clean. Needs better signage that there is parking available in the back. Also needs an...
