Very poor customer service. I will say our waitress wasn't bad nor good, however the owner very poor customer service. We came to celebrate my son's farewell from 5th grade. We had 8 people in total with our party. We ordered multiple appetizers, drinks and entrées. My oldest daughter and her boyfriend ordered 2 California rolls and a Philadelphia roll, the total for that was $18.50 my daughter and her boyfriend did not like them at all. She sent the whole plate back. The waitress gets the owner and the owner offers to replace the meal my daughter kindly declines and said she would not like anything else. The owner said that he would not take it off the bill and that we would still have to pay for it. The owner kept saying that it was rude that they would order food and not eat it. I explained to him that if she didn't like the food for what ever reason that is her opinion and that it is her choice to not eat it. He went on and arguing with us and threatened us with calling the police if we didn't pay for the food that we returned. I told him that we ordered multiple things and that our total bill is still well over $100 and we would not be paying for food that was unsatisfactory and returned. I explained to the owner that he would get repeat customers if the customer service was quality even if the food was mediocre. Btw food there in general is mediocre. It is safe to say that my family and I will stick with going to the other Sushi restaurant that received 4.6 ☆ that is in Lutherville-Timonium off of Padonia Rd in the...
Read moreI got gifted a gift card to Umi Sake as a birthday present from my job, and little did I know what a hassle it would be to use it.
During some home repairs, my boyfriend and I were stuck eating out for all meals, so we prioritized eating at restaurants we had gift cards to in order to save money during some expensive repairs. After dinner, when we went to pay, we were told their "gift card machine was down" and we couldn't pay with a gift card. I was bummed, but figured we'd just come back another time, paid with my credit card and didn't think twice. A week later, we returned, had dinner, and went to pay, and was told AGAIN by the employee that their gift card machine was down again. Now, I know enough about a pos system to know that the same machine you run my credit card is typically the same thing you're charging a gift card to, and given that this was the second time I had been told this, I pushed back and said that this was the second time I had been told this, and it was starting to feel like a scam. The waitress went to talk to someone, and came back and informed us that the gift card machine had been fixed and she just hadn't been told yet, and processed my gift card payment.
Their lunch specials are a great bang for your buck, and overall the sushi is good, but after multiple attempts to use my gift card with push back, I...
Read moreThis evening I frequented Umi Sake as a returning patron and regretted my decision. The woman working as a hostess sat me but when I went to the ladies room I noticed the table I occupied was given to a whole new party. When I inquired why I was moved she was smug about it. She proceeded as she did not understand/comprehend my question due to a language barrier. But when I arrived and asked to be seated she understood me then. When I asked for the manager he too proceeded to make excuses and insult my intelligence by gaslighting me. No apology was extended until I told him the hostess needs to apologize for her poor actions. He was reluctant only to cave in. My server Shin was fantastic she was the unspoken hero and the only reason I stayed despite the foolery that took place. The food was great but that whole debacle set the tone I will not be returning. Ignorance is not an excuse. When one makes a mistake a simple apology...
