If I could go below a one-star with the service, I wish I could. Earlier yesterday, I went inside, and I had a question about trying to buy a certain pack of hot dogs that they did not have. The cashier/manager, really short lady gave my girlfriend a really bad attitude as soon as she asked her a question. I gave my girlfriend the phone to ask her a certain question about hot dogs and then she told me that didn't carry the hot dogs that my girlfriend was looking for for 4 years even though on the website it said that they had it in stock.
Not only this but when I went in by myself a few years ago the same manager cashier lady was working there and she was yelling at this one co-worker about a certain situation behind the food area counter where all the workers work. To be honest in my opinion this lady just really ruins the atmosphere store and in my opinion she doesn't really welcome anybody with a smile and she kind of has that face and voice that's like hurry up and buy. If you try to make small talk with her or say hello how are you like I tried to do one time and she just looked at me like I was crazy and it made me feel bad for even trying to speak in Tagalog for the first place.
If I were you guys, just go to the Mama Rosa in patapsco. It's way better and the store is bigger and you get better servings and a more friendlier atmosphere. I'm never going to the Middle River one again due to the fact that that manager / cashier is extremely rude every time I go in there and I guarantee you that you will run into her as soon as you go inside and try to buy something. She will easily ruin your day
BTW James restaurant is way better. With response to owner, It's not just me that have a problem with the cashier lady. There's multiple people that have had the same experience that I had with the lady at the cashier, especially when she's yelling and screaming at her staff members and embarrassing them in front of customers. Im not trying to be a Karen or be petty. This is a muti-year thing now and im not the only one that had this problem with this individual before. Please read the other 1 star comments regarding unfriendly comments and you'll see other people are saying the same thing. I WANT to spend my money there and be able to buy items there but if im constantly being indirectly treated rude, why would I? I don't have it out for the lady, i really don't but if multiple people are saying the same thing about the same individual, as the owner, PLEASE look into because if it's just me saying it..ok..It's whatever but if it's multiple people saying something...There has to be something to it..
Thank you for the response...I'll just take my money to the pulaski...
Read moreI am conflicted with a few things with Mama Rosa. I am a restaurant owner and chef.
I visited the establishment 1 week ago.The ambiance was casual and friendly. The staff was welcoming and the choices of dishes were plentiful.
Filipino cuisine is definitely one of my favorite dishes. Having lived in the Philippines to study the cuisine, mama rosa delivers the taste. I find their food to be authentic. Breakfast combos are priced well, also the weekend buffett. I do not recommend taking their prepared foods home by the size due to costly prices. For example, their popular Chicken Adobo and rice can be prepared easily for the price of 18.63 cents from your local food market and feed about 10 people. Their quart sizes are about 16 dollars and feeds 4 and rice is extra.
My conflict arises with the price of groceries. It was extremely expensive. I find that other local Asian markets who do not serve prepared foods have better cost effective items.
I ordered family meals only to find my price total to be increased by 30 plus dollars just buying 2 bagged sweets roughly the bag size of medium chips. A-Mart in Parkville MD and V-Mart in Perry Hall has a large size of Filipino/asian groceries that offer much lower prices for the same groceries. Much lower to make the gas drive of 20 cents a gallon if you live in middle river. You will save dollars more.
I feel this establishment would save money as well as increase revenue if manufactured groceries were not sold. The mark up is extremely high. Lastly, I found my sweets molded once I opened the bag when I got home. This also tells me that they miss expiration dates and inventory checks must be increased on a...

They had a variety of my favorite Filipino dishes, but I played it safe and order chicken adobo for myself and my fiancĂŠe. Iâve never met anyone whoâs ever disliked adobo, and I wasnât wrong this time either; full of flavor and freshly made, we werenât disappointed.
In addition to its superb location off of Pulaski Hwy/US-40, itâs situated in a nice part of Middle River and has an appealing exterior. Outdoor seating was aesthetically pleasing and a great choice for the weather today. Thereâs also plenty of indoor seating, away from their mini market.
The market has a great selection of imports â a lot of childhood favorites, and some brands that feel like a fever dream seeing again.
I suppose part of its appeal can be attributed to the nostalgia of homeland comfort foods and brands, and the convenience of being able to find it all in one place without having to hop on a 16-hour flight.
The staff here are very friendly and polite, true to iconic Filipino hospitality. The dining area and store were well-organized and clean. Would definitely recommend checking this place out, even if youâre from out of the area â itâs well...
