Okay! I know you’re going to say another New York transplant critiquing our Jewish deli food, but here I am and I’m going to tell you what I think. We are in search of some good deli in the DMV area. We’ve tried a few and haven’t come across any we like so far; however, Maryland has the best. We read a lot about the Parkway Deli and decided to give it a go. We live in Loudoun County so it’s a good 50 minute drive for us. The restaurant was packed. We waited on line for about 5 minutes (not bad). The restaurant was loud and that’s what you expect at a good Jewish deli. I saw the pickle bar and immediately got up and went over. My eyes lit up; sour, half sour and plain pickles. Pickled tomatoes, sauerkraut and other salads. I grabbed a bowl and dug in. My wife and I shared several of the selections and they were really good. We couldn’t wait to split a pastrami and corned beef sandwich. The waitress came over right away. We ordered and the sandwiches came out within 5 minutes...great service. They were both a nice sized sandwich. The meat however was too thin, almost paper thin. The rye was decent, moist and chewy. Some of the other places I’ve been to the rye was dry and crumbled. The pastrami was a little greasy, not fatty, but like an oily texture. The flavor was decent; maybe a little salty. The corned beef was really fatty, not a great flavor. Of the two, I would go for the pastrami. We also ordered a potato knish. I liked it my wife didn’t. All in all I would come back if this restaurant was in Northern Virginia, but it’s not good enough to drive 50 minutes For...

Our waiter was very good and helpful. I was surprised that the brisket was cold and frankly not very good. It was served with standard gravy on the side but I never got to it because the brisket was inexplicably covered in a tomato soup sauce of some kind. They happily took it back and replaced it with the Fish & Chips. The breaded cod was unexpectedly very good. Another of our party had an inedible crab stuffed flounder. That was replaced as well with a steak & cheese sandwich although another of our party also had the steak & cheese and both of them were disappointed with that. We usually never return meals nor are we tough critics. For instance, the mac & cheese and the onion rings were very good as was the Matzoball soup. In my party of 6, three of us either returned our food or decided not to eat(another cold and poorly made brisket was returned and taken off the check). Deserts were tasty and I recommend the Tres Leches. Adult twins were clearly announced to be celebrating a birthday and though it was acknowledged by the waiter there was nothing offered by the restaurant. I understand that some places may not offer a free slice of (birthday) cake to everyone that comes in on their birthday but something could've been offered especially after 3 of 6 meals were rejected. No acknowledgement from management about the terrible food. I've had better experiences with Parkway in the past and will certainly consider them in the future. Let's just chalk this up to the fog of a covid war that we are all suffering from...

Previous orders from Parkway Deli were completed without error and the food was wonderful. However, great food does not and will not make up for poor customer service and rudeness! I placed an order from Parkway through a delivery app. When the order arrived to my home, it was clear it was incorrect. The driver stated that he was “given the incorrect order from the restaurant “ which prompted me to call for clarity. The gentleman ( and I use the term loosely), who answered the phone was very condescending and abrupt with me stating that the “deli” no longer used “that particular “ delivery service, and he would provide me with the phone number for the driver. As I tried to explain that there was no need for him to provide a phone number for the driver considering the driver had just left my home and it was (again) evident that the order was incorrect, the person on the phone kept interrupting and over talking me in an effort to hurry me off the phone… I endured the conversation long enough to confirm every item from my order then asked what should be the next step taken to receive the items. Again, I was met with rudeness, elevated tones, and abruptness! I immediately put my husband on the phone and the guys tone changed drastically!

I will take my business elsewhere! So dissatisfied and utterly...

This place felt like stepping through a portal into an old school NYC style deli/diner. The dining area is towards the back of the store and is definitely worth checking out because those who dine in have access to the pickle bar (which is a must if you order a pastrami reuben). If you don’t dine in, you’ll have to pay per pound for the pickle bar. Their pastrami reuben was really tasty, albeit maybe a tad bit too salty by the time you get to the last few bites. This is why getting pickles is critical. The acidity cuts down on the richness of the deli meat. The matzoh ball soup was delicious! Highly recommend ordering this soup on a cold day. The dessert selection and prices were very reasonable. I ordered the chocolate mint pie and though I wish there was more chocolate mint filling, it was still very good. The service was fast, so it’s an ideal place to eat if you’re in a hurry. Perfect spot to bring the family.

Parkway Deli is a lovely community space with great wine and beer options, a bakery, and a sit down restaurant area. When you enter, expect a maze-like line looping around that can get confusing. You will sit at a nicely packed place with booths and paintings and decor celebrating the Jewish heritage of many in the local community. The neighborhood is beautiful and suburban, stunning in the fall, surrounded by an elementary school and not too far from Shalom Temple and Rock Creek Park. My food was ok. I enjoyed the hash brown omelette, which had a pleasant crunch from the bacon and hash browns. Once I got to the cheese, I was even happier. They also have a pickle bar with pickles, slaw, and banana peppers. The toasted sesame bagel tasted a little stale, though. I want to go back and have the desserts, which looked very promising!

Just had an awesome meal at Parkway Deli and Restaurant! I went for the roasted turkey sandwich with a bunch of veggies, toasted just right, and a side of French fries. Let me tell you, the sandwich was amazing! The turkey was super tender and packed with flavor, and the fresh veggies added a nice crunch. The toasting gave it that perfect crispy edge that made every bite so satisfying. Now, about those fries – yeah, they were $5, which is a bit on the pricey side, but totally worth it. They were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and they gave me a big portion, so I didn’t feel shortchanged at all. Overall, the portions were huge, and the food was seriously good. If you’re looking for a place to get a hearty, delicious meal, I definitely recommend checking out Parkway Deli and Restaurant!
