Red Maple Asian Bistro — Restaurant in Silver Spring

Having ordered from here periodically for almost two years, it's easy to say that the sushi is pretty good for the price and is always consistent. However, last night on whim I ordered some Chinese to try it out since it's close by and could be delivered quickly (I usually pick it up but couldn't this time). NEVER order anything other than takeout sushi from this place!!

First, the Doordasher didn't even bother to attempt to get in contact with me to get into the building, and left the order outside the building's front door on the ground where it could've easily been stolen.

Second, the vegetable dumplings are quite overpriced for a brand you can easily find in the frozen section of H-Mart. Third, I also got the vegetarian General Tso's chicken, and not only did the sauce taste solely of vinegar and salt, but there was REAL CHICKEN mixed into the dish!! I had no clue until I bit into a piece because the coating made it look identical. I'm a pescatarian, so that is a GIGANTIC problem. It only causes me to wonder what else on that side of the kitchen goes awry.

Sharing this review makes me rather frustrated and sad, as one half of the menu is a tremendous letdown...

I have spent most of my life in high end fine dining establishments. Red Maple humbled me. We have gotten carry out from this restaurant over the years and I have always found serenity after our meal. The soft shell crab appetizer is wonderful. The crunchiness of the tempura coating along with the spicy rice noodles is heavenly. The tempura appetizer is also cooked to perfection. The shrimp and veggies were as light as a feather. Wow! On to the main coarse, sushi! The fish tasted like it was just caught from the sea. The freshness of the fish was unbelievable. We have never had sushi this good - it was as smooth as silk. The wasabi was a karate kick to my taste buds and tear ducts. I can’t wait to land back to this tiny unpretentious restaurant. Thank you to the chef and staff. Keep up...

Please stay away from this place. When you enter you will bump in to a dirty front area . The entrance smells like raw chicken and eggs. I place an order over the phone and went to pick up and saw this. I ask for an extra hot peppers and the lady said it’s an extra $1 dollar. Normally it’s free. She was scratching her hair when I was there . When my order was ready she was touching my order without any gloves. Disgusting. I threw the entire order . Never ever go to this place again.
