I bought a dozen of crab from here last week. I live about 20 miles away from this place. When I got home to eat the crabs as I opened them I started to see a lot of black stuff on the lungs and inside the crabs. As I ate them I felt the grit like dirt, so I looked closer at them and it was black mud. I opened 2 more of them and sure enough, they were all filled with black mud. I went back to the area the following day because I was only there to study with a friend. As I left, I decided to stop by and ask them about the dirt in the crabs. They told me they had no complaints at first, then they said they had no complaints about the extra large ones. I told them I still had them but the drive was far to go get them and bring them back like they wanted. I did leave and went home. As I thought about it more, I spent too much money to not be able to eat my crabs, so I called and told them after I got 25 minutes away from them that I was on my way back with the crabs, (so they could steam me another order). When I got there the guy took them in the back to open them when initially he was going to do it right there in front of me. He came back out to me with crabs that were not dirty and told me that those were the ones I brought back and they were great, no dirt. He came back with a second one saying the same thing. Well I waited another 25 minutes before they gave me more crabs although mine should have been done when I got there. I didn't start to eat them until today and guess what? They gave me the exact same crabs as I brought back to them. I recognized them because I took every single one out of the bag and looked at them before I took them back to them. They had seaweed on 2 of them, that's how I know they were the same ones and I opened everyone of them myself this time so they couldn't do that again. When I took them back to them today, they were rude and told me they didn't give me the same ones and they had other things to do, other than take care of me. Also that everybody had sand in the crabs this time of year. The crabs are shipped in from New Orleans according to one of the workers. He told me that they get them out of the swamp, that's why they were so dirty! That's the last $89 they will ever get from me!! Don't spend your money on...
Read moreMy mother whose in town from florida and I ate here today. I've been a loyal customer for years but I have to say I am somewhat disappointed. We wanted crab cakes but upon arrival I was told they only had two left. I ordered jumbo lump crab cake platter for her and 1 pound of jumbo shrimp. And a quart of cream of crab. The shrimp were great but my mother who Mind you hasn't eaten anything since yesterday ate the cakes she said there was too much filler and they tasted off.... fast forward several hours later and shes sick vomiting bowel movements standard signs of food poisoning. (My mom loves crab galley and typically we go for the crab dips) I've patronized this place for over 10years and I am saddened to say that this may be the final time here. Definitely for crab cakes. But maybe entirely I know my mother will no longer demand I take her to get crab dip when shes in town anymore and we will likely chuck the quart of cream of crab that we bought for my grandparents who are in there mid to late 80s. For fear of it being contaminated also. What a shame I'm truly saddened to leave a bad review with so many good experiences here but its only fair if I share the good and the bad hence the 3 stars. If I do patronize itll be for fresh seafood only that I know...

Got Maryland Cream of Crab soup. They adulterate the recipe by using small bits of what seems to be potato. Maybe potatoes are used to “s-t-r-e-t-c-h” the perception of crab where it’s nearly absent?
My quick Google check for Maryland Cream of Crab recipe ingredients found almost no variation: cream or half-n-half, butter, onion, Old Bay, sometimes parsley, sometimes Sherry. Two cream of crab recipes (one in the mid-west, one using. Dungeness crabs) added other thins, but NEVER said they were Maryland Cream of Crab.
Buyer beware.
These folks probably justify selling fake and adulterated for the genuine.
Don’t rely on how they label what they’re selling. Like Chinese products on Amazon - the label doesn’t guarantee getting what you pay for.
That said, my wife and I enjoyed our profoundly average “Cream of Potato” soup for what was supposed to be a special weekend lunch. At $20 a quart it...
