Prime Street Grille (4680 Crain Hwy White Plains, MD 20695) — A True Hidden Gem with Five-Star Service — We had a phenomenal midweek dinner at Prime Street Grille this past Wednesday (with a 7:15pm reservation through Resy) and from the moment we sat down, our server MJ delivered top-tier hospitality. He was warm, intuitive, and flawlessly attentive — the kind of service that instantly elevates the entire dining experience. We kicked things off with lemon drop martinis that were crisp, smooth, and perfectly balanced — not syrupy sweet like you get elsewhere. For starters, we went all in: calamari, rockfish bites, oysters Rockefeller, and the Maryland crab/cream of crab soup duo. Every bite screamed fresh and house-made. The soup was a standout — silky, rich, and full of authentic Maryland flavor — the kind that spoils you for anywhere else. For entrées, we ordered the lamb chops with Brussels sprouts (uniquely done in a slaw; amazing!) and a baked potato, the filet mignon with lobster tail (paired with creamy mashed potatoes and a refreshing tomato–cucumber–corn salad), and the crab imperial rockfish with macaroni and cheese (Gruyère cheese was tasty). Everything was cooked to perfection — tender proteins, layered flavors, extremely generous portions (we all had to-go boxes), and sides that were clearly crafted with as much care as the mains. Nothing felt like an afterthought. We ended with the bread pudding and Irish coffee — an absolutely perfect finish. The bread pudding was warm, buttery, and comforting without being overly sweet, and the Irish coffee was smooth and just boozy enough to seal the night. Prime Street Grille overdelivers in every way — from the kitchen to the service to the atmosphere. Thanks to MJ, it felt like fine dining without the pretense. This is the kind of restaurant you immediately plan to return to — and bring people you want to impress.

Nice little spot for a steak that supports small business vs big names in the area like outback or longhorn.

So, in 2016, I took my staff to Prime Street Grill for our Christmas "party". I arrived on time, only to find that they had no record of my reservation. They doubled back and pushed a few tables together. In short, they worked it out.

This past Christmas season (2017), I decided to give it another chance. So, I made a reservation for 14. Knowing what happened last year, I called the day before our "party" to confirm my reservation. The pleasant voice on the other end confirmed my 12:30 reservation. I then asked if my reservation could be increased from 14 to 16. The pleasant voice told me to hold on; and hold I did for 5 or 6 minutes. When she returned to the line, she was a bit less pleasant but assured me that they would accommodate 16, but if my party got any larger, they would not be able to accommodate me. I said, "no problem".

The following day, I and my staff arrived at the restaurant. We were directed to a series of tables that were pushed together; seven chairs on one side of the table and eight chairs on the other. That's 15 chairs placed into a space that would comfortably accommodate 14. When I spoke with the hostess to inform her that I had a reservation for 16, she shows me their reservation system reflecting that I have a reservation for 14, and further tells me she'll see what she can do. Note, the system reflected a reservation for 14 but for some unknown reason, there were 15 chairs around the tables.

In short, she could do nothing because the manager of the restaurant refused to provide an additional table. We communicated that our group was sitting hip to hip and it would definitely subtract from the dining experience. We even asked if the manager would be willing to take the hit for the inconvenience. We were told "yes". Keep that in mind.

After everyone in the party received their meal and were eating, the waitress attempted to refresh my drink by reaching over my staff on the other side of the table. She ended up emptying the glass into my meal and across the table into my lap. An added bonus to my dining experience. This is what happens when the manager refuses to provide quality service.

So, we start with 5 stars: 1 demerit for screwing up the reservation (again); and for failing to take responsibility for the error 1 demerit for refusing to provide adequate space to dine 1 demerit for failing to even offer to comp me for the meal the waitress ruined 1 demerit for a manager who never bothered to come out to the dining room to see what was happening

That leaves one star; and that's largely because the staff showed up and one star is the least I can give. The food was okay. The service was unacceptable. I didn't put on a drama and risk ruining my staff's luncheon. However, the manager and staff need hospitality and customer service training.

I've made numerous referrals to this restaurant, but I'll definitely not recommend them for large parties. They've messed me up twice. There won't be a third...

I dined here this afternoon with my mom and aunt. This was our first time eating here even though we have lived in this area forever. Our server was new, but very polite and efficient. Between the 3 of us and a to-go order, we spent about $250. We got the crab dip and hushpuppies as appetizers and they were pretty good. I got the lamb chops with mac 'n cheese and asparagus. My asparagus was soft and somewhat mushy but it was flavorful. I am used to having my asparagus more firm. The mac 'n cheese was ok, but I would have preferred it to be more cheesy and creamy. The server told me that the lambchops are cooked medium well, and I told him ok; however, I should have gotten them medium. They were a little too cooked for my liking, but they were tasty. My mom and aunt got the same thing - the rockfish top with crab imperial, a baked potato, and cold slaw. My aunt also ordered a side of scallops.

My mom wasn't pleased with her dish so our server had the manager come over. She was very nice and offered to get something else for my mom. My mom remembered the seafood platter from the menu and decided to get that. The manager asked my mom if she wanted to keep her baked potato or have a fresh one brought out with her meal and my mom decided to keep the one she had as she had not begun eating it.

When the check came, my mom noticed a $4.50 charge on the bill for the baked potato. When she asked the server about it, he explained that the seafood platter comes with french fries and because my mom kept the baked potato, that was considered an up charge. My mom asked to speak with the manager, Donna. Donna came to our table and explained the same thing. My mom explained that had she been aware of the upcharge, she would have given back the baked potato and been ok with the fries. After some awkward silence, Donna then proceeded to tell my mom that it was stated in the menu. I then reminded Donna that this was our first visit and that my mom did not have the menu when she placed the replacement meal.

This is where I feel things became unacceptable. Donna stated that she would remove the $4.50 this time but in the future, the fee would stand because it's written all over the menu. Donna should have explained this when she took my mom's original order away and asked if she wanted to keep the baked potato. As we explained, it was our first time dining there. The ambiance was great, but the dining experience was tainted by Donna's lack of respect. She made my mom feel like she (my mom) was trying to get away with something. I have over 20 professional years in corporate America (specifically management and customer service related areas), and I would never nor advise anyone to speak to a...

Make sure you enter into their website completely prior to making your reservation. I along w/ another family member made our reservation by clicking the make reservation tab and did not see the language concerning the no party over 6. We were trying to take our aunt out to celebrate her 75th birthday and when we arrived there was a party of 2 in the dining room to the left--2 sets of people in the dining room to the right and I didn't even know there was a dining room in the back. My niece's family is a family of 6 so she made her own reservation. They sat them in the dining room to the left. My sister's family is a family of 3--but she added our aunt and her grandson to her party--I believe they were going to sit them in the dining room to the right. I was in a party of 4--despite there being 5 empty tables to our left and countless tables to our right--the condescending manager decided to place us in a dining room in the rear of the establishment so that he could be certain that there wasn't any "of this" going on. When we inquired about what "of this" was he rambled on and on about group stuff. Our party was full of "seasoned" professionals nearing retirement who neither looked the part of the "of this" or behaved in a manner of the "of this" that he said he wanted no parts of. The only "of this" that was apparent to him was our skin color. I'm not certain what caused them.to create their rule, but know they are adamant about adhering to it and will go above and beyond to make sure people are seated as far away from people as they can possibly be. Our family is full of foodies, who have traveled the world dining at some of the finest restaurants that exist while also enjoying dives a time or two and this was the worst treatment that we have experienced. Prior to this visit, I'd visited this place on 3 occasions. On two of those occasions I witnessed celebrations with more than 6 people in attendance. Fortunately for us, I'd visited Galazio's on a few occasions as well--so we decided to go there. The difference in the service was night and day. We walked into their establishment w/out reservations. Was seated immediately--together. The manager came over to thank us for coming and to take our picture. The entire team was excellent--including the staffer who was outside that happened to see us taking a pic and she stopped what she was doing--walked over to us and asked, "Would you like for me to take your picture"? Soooo if you are looking for great food and excellent customer service drive south of them--about 10 minutes on the right hand side--you will not be disappointed. Be sure to get the calamari and some Tzatziki sauce. As I stated before we are sworn foodies and their combo is THE...
