Popponesset Inn — Restaurant in Mashpee

My wife and I got married in May of 2021 at the Popponsset and words simply can not describe how incredible the event was. We started our search like many other couples, heading down the Cape for a weekend and visiting venue after venue. The Poppy was our last spot and instantly we knew it was our venue. Not only is the setting incredible with a quintessential Cape Cod beach wedding vibe, everything about the Poppy is perfect. Our wedding was incredible. The venue wow guests with a direct beachfront wedding, the food blew our guests away (filet and lobster were VERY popular), and the bar was fast, ready with a good pour and there was never a crowd standing around waiting. Also, the dance floor in the middle of the room with the band elevated created a concert-like feeling and truly everyone was involved in the party, even those who are not "dancers" The Poppy is a well-oiled machine and it shows. My wife and I loved our bridal attendant, she was always by our side making sure our drinks were full, we were eating, and having the best time. She even made us a plate of extra food and put it in the bridal suite for after the wedding, incredible! If the venue and day of staff were not enough to sell us, we also met Wilma, who truly became part of our family. From the second we met Wilma we knew she would ensure our wedding day was everything we wanted and then some. What we didn't know is that our planned date of May 2020 would be pushed a year. What we learned is that there is simply no problem Wilma can't solve. She is so responsive, understanding, and incredibly giving of her time. I vividly remember the day my wife and I made the call to Wilma to push our wedding date, both of us dreading the call thinking there would be major financial repercussions, Wilma was cool as can be, asked what we would like our new date to be and moved it on the spot. And that was just one example of Wilma being Wilma. Both our families got to know Wilma through our tasting, planning and the day off and everyone loves Wilma. Every vendor we hired asked if we were working with Wilma and when we confirmed they would always say "SHE IS THE BEST". Wilma, the best simply isn't a good enough word to describe you. You are a wedding HERO! Kristen and I would never have been able to pull off the best day of our lives without you. We had the most amazing experience getting married at the Popponesset Inn, and from our very first visit, we knew this was the place we wanted to celebrate our special day. The vibe of the Inn and the beautiful tent is truly magical. The venue, located right on the beach in Mashpee, MA, offers a stunning, unique setting that’s hard to beat. As you move through the building and step into the tent, the view is absolutely breathtaking—everyone who sees it for the first time is completely blown away by the beauty. The staff at the New Seabury Country Club, which operates the Popponesset Inn, is top-notch. Jennifer, the Director of Catering Sales, was our event coordinator and she was simply the best! From the moment we met her, her warmth, positivity, and excitement for our big day put us at ease. Many of the staff members have worked there for years, and it’s clear they are dedicated to making each event flawless. We felt confident that everything would go smoothly, and it absolutely did. We chose the Grand Reception with food stations, and the food was nothing short of spectacular. From the cocktail hour appetizers to the dinner, everything was delicious and plentiful. Our guests raved about the food, and we loved how everyone could choose exactly what they wanted, with plenty of options for all tastes. The gluten-free and vegetarian choices were a huge plus and made our planning much easier. The staff was incredibly efficient, particularly during the room flip from ceremony to reception. They made sure that we, along with our families, had drinks or anything else we needed throughout the evening. We also requested signature cocktails, along with mocktails, and the bar team was so accommodating, making sure everything was just right. We can't recommend the Popponesset Inn enough. If you're looking for a stunning, unique venue with excellent food and a professional, attentive staff, this is the place to be. My husband and I got married at The Poppy this past July, with Chelsea as our venue coordinator. She was THE. ABSOLUTE. BEST. We had so many questions throughout the whole process… literally from our first time touring the venue all the way up to the day before the wedding. Chelsea was so kind and informative, and she got back to us in a timely manner every single time. She went above and beyond in so many ways— I will never forget her staying down on the beach with me in the dark, single-handedly doing up my complex double bustle after our sunset pictures were finished, because my bridesmaids didn’t do it correctly the first time. The actual wedding day was perfectly organized by Chelsea and the rest of the New Seabury staff— every aspect of the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception went according to plan. There were even small surprises on the day-of that we weren’t expecting… a New Seabury staff member was assigned to me for the entire day to help with anything from straightening my train before I walked down the aisle to making sure I had a drink in my hand the entire reception. Another surprise we weren’t expecting was being greeted with a champagne cheers on the beach for us, our parents, and every single person in our bridal party after our processional out of the ceremony. We did “The Grand” buffet for dinner, and our friends and family still bring up how good the food was every time we reminisce on the wedding. We also had a lot of guests with various food allergies, and the chef/waitstaff were accommodating with alternative food options, and also informing our guests of which foods contained allergens, when asked.
