Tortilleria Garcia - Mason — Restaurant in Mason

I have been patronizing Tortilleria Garcia for quite a few years beginning with the Springfield Pike location. Being a resident of Mason, I passed quite a few Mexican category restaurants to reach TG. I was pleased to learn that a location would be opening near my home (4200 Aero Dr. location). Net, I began patronizing the Mason location upon it’s opening.

It is unusual that I miss the awesome taco Tuesday special offered by TG. Therefore, I ordered carryout yesterday (November 15). It is rare that I order carryout as I usually dine in. As I prepared to enjoy my Tuesday tacos at home, upon opening the container, I thought that my order was prepared incorrectly. I chose chicken as my protein and initially seeing the tacos for the first time, I thought that my items were prepared vegetarian. I moved the toppings around with a fork and discovered that my order was prepared with the most insignificant portion of chicken I’ve not only experienced at TG, but at any comparable restaurant.

Unfortunately, due to an evening Zoom call that was scheduled very soon after, I was not able to contact / return the order and share my disappointment. As I mentioned prior, I patronize TG at least once per week with great regularity mostly dining in. I've never for any reason had to share disappointment / concern regarding an order. Therefore, my supposition is, with my order being carryout, the order was prepared differently than it would have otherwise been if I’d dined in. And that is very disappointing.

Restaurants that have non-containerized, subjective portion control permit the staff to prepare items with a wide range of unacceptable limits. This, for many reasons, is not good.

On a positive note, the young lady who is usually staffing the POS is friendly as is the lady who prepares the final order are both very friendly and pleasant.

This was the worst Mexican food that I have ever ate in my life (my family is Hispanic and we eat out at Mexican restaurants regularly). The lady working there was very nice and helpful, the service was good but the food was horrible. Everything was extremely bland with no flavor. I couldn't even fix it with salt. The Mexican rice had no flavor at all. The steak on the tacos was so flavorless and just not good. They need new cooks, new recipes... something. My kids didn't even like it, and they aren't picky at all. For 2 adults and 2 kids we paid $70! So not worth it. We literally got 2 tacos each, rice, and 2 soft drinks and 2 kids meals and ut was $70! They also added a service charge of nearly $10 in addition to sales tax for eating in and I have no idea what that was for. We dined in , but we didn't have a server. You go up to the counter and order and take your food to your table yourself and get your drink yourself. Really don't like leaving bad reviews but on this I have to. This is the second time that I've been to this location and both times were exactly the same. Both times I have been to this location have been around 1:00 in both times. The restaurant itself is dirty. I'm the only customer in the restaurant and was the only customer in the store the whole time that I dined in. This time I ordered something different from last to try something different and the same results were with this order. Food here is very bland there's no flavor. I ordered chicken tacos and ended up having bones in my chicken which okay things happen. That still does not excuse the fact that there is absolutely no flavor in their food. I am a regular at a Mexican restaurant of this style in Hebron 3 to 4 times a week because I love their food and I have never had a bad experience there but I have been here twice and have been very disappointed about times and will never be back even if this is the closest restaurant to my work on Saturdays.
