Stewie's — Restaurant in Matamoras

Always a great place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Parking easy, service attentive and excellent. Very clean establishment! Food: very well made with great sized portions. Had the most delicious liver and onions with bacon recently. She had the tasty fried chicken with mashed potatoes. We both love their coleslaw. All the usual foods you'd expect to find in a diner-type atmosphere. They even have pierogi's! There are specials that include the chicken, meatloaf, and others. Good hamburgers, too. Good for desserts also if you have the room! Always a good place to go and always reliable with no surprises. You can eat inside or outside depending on the weather. Try it if you haven't been here yet. You'll keep coming back, I'm sure. If you're traveling on Route 84 depending on which way you're driving, take either the 1st or the last exit and go 1/2 mile down from the Welcome Center. They now serve breakfast and lunch up until 3pm until they can find more help. You'll love the food that's reasonably priced, and plenty of it! I recommend this...

Probably wouldn't even give it one star. While being seated we asked not to he in the mid section. We we're put in the dead center. When we asked again not to be there we got a little attitude and were reluctantly moved one table over. Waitress repeated the drink order correctly but than came back with one of them wrong. Asked not to have chips and pickles, chips and pickles were on the plate. Waitress noticed this and picked the plate up and took it to the kitchen, told them she doesn't want these she can't eat salt, just remove them. She brings it back, sets it down, and walks away. All this only to find out that the bread was stale. Finally, got the waitress"s attention and explained the problem inly to get a reply of. Oh, I'm sorry , you wanted fresh bread. No, I don't want...

First time eating dinner at Stewie's. Food was not expensive. The highest price plate was their flat steak dinner, around $21.

My first impression; a diner that has some time under its belt. Nothing fancy, where locals come out for an evening home cooked meal.

Service was nice. We didn't have to stand around for long periods of time waiting to be seated, around 1-2 minutes. Waitress was prompt, and not overbearing. From the time the waitress took our order, to the time we were served our food, 12-15 minutes.

All in all, Stewie's was a wonderful place to eat, without high prices, or overbearing waitresses. Fast service with good food.
