Excellent and decadent. They have your regular fare such as Boston Cream, jelly, etc. All superior to your franchised donut shop. But the specialty donuts are not to be missed. The lemon poppyseed are moist, cakey donuts with a bright lemon zing. The Samoas are to die for. I'm a Boston Cream kind of guy and it was the best I've ever tasted.
I was a little confused about how to order. There is no display case near the checkout, but there is a display table near the front door. Hopefully that will change at some point, but we got thru it and it was nbd.
When ordering in meatspace at the shop, I recommend grabbing an order form and pen from the wall or you can ask the counter for one. Mosey on over to the display table with your form so you can see what's what. Then hand your form to the nice cashier and they'll start your order. It takes time for the kitchen staff to assemble the donuts, so be patient if they're busy. Good things come to those who wait. All in all it was less that a 5 minute wait and...
Read moreI very rarely write reviews, but after my second trip here was as phenomenal as the first, how could I not? The donuts are absolutely fantastic. So far I've tried 5 of them and I've loved them all. From my first visit: The Belmar bomb is incredible, the key lime is a winner if you like key lime pie, and you can never go wrong with a maple bacon (called the sweet pig here). Yesterday I tried the new hot chocolate donut which was perfect for me since I love chocolate and the sprinkle of cayenne added an extra special flavor. Then I opted for the classic jelly, which is something I very rarely opt for even at chain donut places. It was just as wonderful as everything else. I can't wait to return to try more!
I also want to add - the owner, Joe, is such a great person. Really friendly, clearly loves what he does, and I enjoyed chatting with him while I was there. He's selling his family's Italian hot chocolate as well and I'll definitely be picking some up next time I'm in the store...
Read moreEXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! Ordered the apple fritters, was told to microwave them for 30 seconds. I've been there before Ordered them and have NEVER been told to microwave them. Took one bite and they were NOT FRESH! When I brought them back I was told they don't make them there. I was unaware that they didn't make the donuts there, why would you need to microwave a fritter if it was fresh!? Because clearly they weren't. I'll also add the 2 other times I purchased them, not only did I NOT microwave them BUT they were fresh the second day and again there was NO NEED TO MICROWAVE. Edit...to respond by saying "I refused to have Lucas MICROWAVE THEM" IS A LIE! HE SAID "IF YOU THROW THEM IN THE MICROWAVE THEY'RE EVEN BETTER!" UM NO FRESH FRITTER SHOULD NEED TO BE MICROWAVED TO HAVE A FRESH CONSISTENCY! FUNNY THING IS I'VE PURCHASED THEM FROM YOU ON THE WEEKENDS IN THE PAST AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME TO HEAT THEM! LET'S BE...
