Called in a pizza order and went in for carryout. Everything went smooth. Paid with my CashApp card, left a tip and kiosk asked if I wanted a receipt. Got home and not long after I received a call from Vans Pizza. The young lady on the phone informed me that she helped me and everything went well when I was there but their system didn't show they received my payment. I checked my App and let her know the payment with four others that day, was pending. She asked me to repay over the phone and if it went through, I would receive a refund within 7 business days. I didn't really have the money to pay twice but she really seemed concerned that the payment didn't go through. So I agreed to pay again over the phone. The next day I realized BOTH payments went through. So I called and had to explain to someone other than I spoke with the situation. I asked to speak to a manager and I heard the young lady say... Who wants to be the manager? I explained again to the "Manager" and she said she was not at the level to give refunds but would get back to me. She did and told me I should receive the refund within 7 days and if not they would refund me cash. This company needs to realize not everyone has $50 to spend in this economy. The correct way to handle this would have been to wait till the next day to see if the payment went through. Not put the burden on the customer for a week. I will be trying Gigis pizza...
Read moreMy friend from Austin came down for a visit and wanted to eat Pizza . Austin its one is the best places to eat a variety of different styles of Pizza from Home grown mom and pop places such as Austin Pizza, Home Slice and my personal favorite Roppolo's . So I was a little apprehensive about finding a decent pizza place in Mathis , TX. It's just such a small town I was a bit pessimistic . However my friend had already started to research Pizza in Google Maps and found this little Gem , Vans Pizza . I didn't even know this place existed. I don't know who does their marketing and advertising but they need to put the word out about this place..I have to say the pizza was delicious , I ordered a large pizza they had on their menu i can't remember the name but it was a white sauce pizza vs your traditional tomato base sauce and it had spinach and bacon and grilled chicken . I think it had black olives with olive oil and mozzarella cheese, hand tossed crust and it was very tasty. I recommend this place if you want to eat at nice little dive with cool frames posters of gangster movies such as Goodfellas and the God Father , both films are works of art by two of my favorite directors , Martin Scorsese and of course Francis Ford Copolla. Also it beats eating at a taqueria they have those a dime a dozen in Mathis. . ... I give it...
Read moreIt was extremely disappointing, especially after seeing all the sublime reviews. I was really expecting a pizza worthy of such high Google Review praise. My expectations hit a brick wall and then fell down a well.
First of all, the margherita pizza doesn't even look or taste like a margherita pizza. I'm not even sure if they know what it's supposed to look like.
It's like someone accidentally dropped the basil leaves into a meat grinder. And if you want to be more visually accurate, it looks more like someone was mowing a lawn next to the pizza.
But looks aren't everything, what does it taste like? Rubbery cheese with barely any sauce, barely any flavor. It's like gnawing on a brick of string cheese. The pizza itself is a bit too oily, and the crust, bless my heart, the CRUST was disgustingly burnt in some areas. I'm not exaggerating, just look at the pictures.
I would give this place 1 Star if the staff wasn't pleasant or if I had a chance to sit down and eat there. I've had school pizzas with more integrity than this.
I really wanted to enjoy the food here, but the pizza was...
