I’ve been wanting to go to @gatheronmaui since their posts have been popping up in my social media feed. So I’m happy to say it’s official & I’ve finally made it here for lunch today. Plus for my very first experience at Gather on Maui for Food + Drink. I did have to google their location being that I’m not an experienced golfer. So I’ve never actually had an excuse to be in the area until now. Plus I even convinced my parents to tag along for their first dining experience here too.
Thanks to Google maps I guided them straight to their massive parking lot. There where a lot of cars. But also a ton of available parking spots as well. So instead of hunting for something closer we just parked towards the back. Which just gave us more time to admire all the greenery. Plus to help work up an appetite as we walked towards the building.
Still being in unfamiliar territory. We saw the restaurants name on the outside of the building. So we were definitely in the right area. Walking inside I was in awe of how massive this space was. It looked like the cutest waiting room filled with seating arrangements. To the left was a shop, the middle door opened up to a view of the golf course & the door on the right lead down a hallway to the restaurant.
I’m still in love with the elegance of their restaurant decor. Their choices of color made for a beautiful walk through the restaurant passing the bar on the right. As we followed our hostess who also happened to be the manager. To a table with a beautiful view overlooking the golf course.
The Blackened Fish Tacos looked deliciously messy. So of course I added the salsa intended for the chips to my tacos & yes I was correct with my assumption. Originally, I planned on splitting this dish with my mom because it came with two tacos. However my dad also ordered the same thing & only ate one. So I ended up eating two anyways.
My customer food tip if you also order the Blackened Fish Tacos. Even if you add the salsa or not. These are going to be messy & eating them by hand isn’t exactly pretty. Plus your hands will still smell like food. So if you do use your hands bring sanitizer & thank me later. Or just use your fork. I’ll definitely be trying that option my next time around.
I also love trying out different specialty drinks from any restaurant I go to. So I sampled the Basil Smash, Who’s Your Caddy, Pina On The Rocks & Rose Colored Glasses. Even though all four were delicious. However my favorite is a toss up between Who’s Your Caddy & Pina On The Rocks. So for next time I’ll just start with those two for research purposes.
As for my restaurant recommendations those birds are like vultures. They aren’t easily scared off. Even if you kick the chair they land on. They’ll move but fly right back. So maybe adding a bird deterrent like shiny objects or bird spikes might help. Plus being that it is an open air environment. The moment our food was placed on the table is when the gnats flew in to make their food landing. Either a higher ceiling fan setting might help. Or even certain scents might help repel them too.
Also as a huge dessert foodie I’d love to see a specialty dessert cocktail or a few on a future menu. Plus anywhere I go I’m always on the hunt for anything incorporating Matcha or Ube. Those are also the type of flavors that help me pick out restaurants for a date with my fiancé.
To the manager & our server thank you for making our first dining experience here an enjoyable one. Everything from the customer service, to the view, food & drinks were all on point. Gather on Maui for Food + Drink is on my recommendation list.
Until next...
Read moreMy wife and I got married here on the 17th. We dined here the day before our wedding and again on our last night in Maui on the 25th.
Every experience we had here was exceptional. From the food to the service to the entire experience of our wedding.
If you are looking for a place in Maui to get married this simply has everything. The on-site staff are incredible. Sincerely just some of the best at their job. Brian, the banquet manager is such a kind dialed in man. He was introduced to us by the site coordinator Rhondi as someone who lives to make your wedding the best day possible, and he exceeded that introduction. If you get married here you not only have the honor of getting some of the greatest scenery on the island, (go for the molokini lookout for your ceremony site, you won’t regret it) you get the honor of working with Brian.
Rhondi was exceptional as well, she carved out time for us to see our site the day before our wedding and answered all of our last minute anxiety driven questions. She gave us her direct line to give to our coordinators and vendors if we needed anything, and when we did need something she was immediately available assisting us. On the rare occasions she was not immediately available she got back to us as soon as she was which was never very long.
The entire staff from the bartender to Brian’s team and Rhondi’s team made us feel like we were the only thing that mattered the entire day, which we certainly didn’t expect from them but they over delivered again and again. When we went back to visit for our last dinner on Maui, Brian recognized us and came to shake our hand and give us a hug before we left.
We can’t overstate how great this place is even if you are just dining, we hit up the whole east side of the island during our stay and ate at some amazing spots, Mama’s, Paia fish house, Monkey Pod, and all were great but I think that Gather had our favorite food. Our server Vinny was just amazing as well.
All around every experience we had at Gather was incredible, our dream wedding couldn’t have been any better and certainly would not have been what it was without those at Gather who cared so much about our experience. Our entire guest list raves about the level of care that was provided to them as well. If you want to get Married in Maui or have an awesome scenic dinner. This spot is it.

Read moreDO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE. SUSAN JENCKS WILL SIT BEHIND HER DESK, NOT RESPOND TO YOUR EMAILS, HAVE NO PROBLEM TAKING YOUR MONEY AND NOT RESOLVE ANY ISSUES THAT ARISE. I find it very unfortunate that I have to write this review. I very rarely write reviews and the ones I do write are for amazing service. I cannot wait to write my photographer, makeup artist, DJ, etc a spectacular review. However I cannot say the same about the Gannon's staff. Let me start by saying, Susan requires that you hire a coordinator as she does not coordinate wedding, yet has no problem charging her own coordination fee. Actually, she wants nothing to do with the actual wedding as her office is off site and you will NEVER actually see her or meet her in person. I do believe there is a reason she keeps herself so distant (she does not want to be involved to any capacity). Susan's staff is a horrendous group of people. I'm sad, because other than these people, my day was absolutely perfect and the outside vendors were AMAZING. The main complaint I have was with the bartender, MIKE. If you are having a wedding at Gannon's please request not to have this grumpy old man as the bartender. He made me feel extremely uncomfortable at my own wedding, was extremely rude and made me cry. Why did he hate us? I will never know. Maybe he thought we weren't giving him enough tips, even though the server and the bartender got to split $1,000 in tips from the bill. We did have a little situation with he wine as well that got resolved. However; Susan seems to think everything is okay since the wine issue got resolved. She failed to apologize for the bartender's behavior and ever BACKED her staff. I did not want to resort to this; however neither Susan nor Rebecca responded to my last email. So this is the road that I have to take. My ultimate advice is that there are hundreds of pretty venues on Maui, with better staff. PLEASE choose wisely!!!! NOT WORTH THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION AND EXTREMELY RUDE, UNCARING STAFF. SUSAN, REBECCA, MIKE, YOU...
