I will start off saying that the grounds are amazing. I'm sure that the grounds team is suffering from all the weight of the accolades they surely had.
With that being said, I did not have an enjoyable experience. I played as a single and I understood that I could play faster than a 4-some. However, I am not a good golfer as in a good day I shoot about 100 so I'm not too fast. I had a 3-some ahead of me that I caught within 4 holes. Their pace of play was atrocious. I got so bored that the first bathroom I came across, I used. Not because I needed to but because I needed something to do. I did not come across any players assistants or marshals to enforce pace of play. There were two groups behind me that were being held up too by the 11th hole. I gave up trying to play good golf and stopped scoring as I would wait 4-5 minutes between shots if I played like I should. I did not touch anything longer than a 4-hybrid after the 11th as by playing shorter clubs allowed me to hit quicker than usual. It got to a point where I was teeing off with a 9-iron.
I tried to complain to the cart girl, and it looked like she called it in but no help from the course management. When I finally finished the course, I tried talking to the guys who do intake after the round. They commented that they hear that sort of complaint a lot and there has been no changes. I was asked by them to complain inside and leave my contact information to follow up. I did complain inside and leave my contact information after the lady behind the desk decided to argue with me instead of trying to understand the issue.
So I am leaving this review, and will leave it as such until I hear back from course management about the abysmal standards...
Read moreCourse is beautiful. But staff is extremely rude. Starting with the guy checking us in made multiple snooty remarks. Then the bar and restaurant doesn’t open until 11… for the price you pay that’s insane. The starter was the only nice staff member we encountered. The Marshall on the course had the audacity to tell us to pick up the pace when we were waiting every shot on the group in front of us. When I asked him where he wanted us to go he replied “the green is open”. After we waited for the group in front of us to clear and for him to drive up to speak to us. Then when we got done they gave me a towel which was a nice touch. But they didn’t give my fiancé one. So I went to the cooler that was right there and got her one. Then an employee walks up, nudges me out of the way, slams the cooler shut, and says “this is an employee only area”. We paid 700 dollars for green fees and a rental set. I have been treated better at a mini golf course. I worked at multiple high end courses and this staff was the worst I’ve ever seen. Treated us like we should be honored to play there while charging an arm and a leg. I won’t be going back and recommend people look elsewhere. The staff needs to get...
Read moreCan't help but feel underwhelmed by this course. The views were quite great but not being by the water, were nothing incredible.
The course itself was very middle of the road, the design being pretty uninspired with just a whole lot of straightforward par 4s and 5s and short par 3s. It's certainly a meant to be a nice resort course for generally high handicaps with not a lot of risk reward or strategic elements and it does that job well.
The greens were not in good shape, lots of burnt spots and noticeable patches that were quite bumpy and I got screwed several times by that. Fairways in good shape visually but were very grabby and sandy compared to other turf on the island.
The pace was quite slow but nothing unexpected with a lot of folks taking their time.
Overall for 225, I expect a heck of a lot more, and it wasn't even close to the quality of courses $100 less than it on the island. If you're here for the views and don't care about price, it's an okay time, but if you want to experience a great course...
