The location is simply amazing ! you can’t beat it. My room F304 had a fantastic view of the ocean. The deck is spacious. The rooms are spacious. The design is lovely. I believe this is a Hyatt property and as such I would expect the quality of toilet tissue and Kleenex to be at a higher standard. I had to buy my only toilet paper because my bum is very sensitive. 😂
one other thing that is absolutely stunning about this property is the grounds the grounds and vegetation and gardens have been designed to perfection. I swear to God I could just walk the property and be in paradise. It is absolutely lovely.
Due to the location literally at the shoreline, you’re going to have some little bugs. The bugs are very tiny and they do spray, but I think they should spray more often because the property is right on the water, and the grounds are full of a beautiful gardens. so you will see a few small minor bugs. It’s inevitable , but it doesn’t take away from the experience. Small bugs don’t bother me at all. This may be the reason why they’re on a schedule to come clean your condo every two days.
The below is just some feedback for property management
Walk the property to ensure the rooms are completely empty for the next guest. There were a bunch of little dirty socks that look like they belong to the previous guest children left in the drawer.
Inspect the property completely before the next guest arrives so that everything is in working order. the Internet was a disaster for the first seven days I was here. My stay is 15 days long. Come to find out the modem was not even plugged in. There is not even a cord to plug it into the outlet available. Once we figure that out, the Internet was very slow and was just not a good connection.
Their maintenance tech did an amazing job working with me and troubleshooting. He eventually upgraded the modem and now no complaints. It’s super fast which is amazing due to the location. Again, I want to point out that the maintenance tech was excellent. He didn’t bug me every day. He just reached out once he had a solution. He also understood the issue fully at the beginning. Overall, I would stay here again I took away one star only because I believe property management needs to improve with property inspections,...
Read moreYou simply can't beat the views from your quiet, secluded lanai at Makena Surf. They are stunning, and the lanais are large & comfortable. as are the condos themselves. ||||Unfortunately, the property needs maintenance. The exteriors of the buildings, including handrails on the stairways, were consistently dirty. There were ants in the master bathroom & after ant traps were placed by the staff, they seemed to multiply -- I discovered a couple of ants in my bed (gross!), as well as in the living & dining rooms. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom did not work. The Samsung television in the living room was a smart TV, but only a remote control for the cable box was provided. The TV remote control was not provided, nor were any directions for accessing streaming services. The mattress in the master bedroom is worn out & lumpy, and needs to be replaced. I woke up with a sore back every morning.||||Be warned that there are NO elevators on this property, so if you select a second or third floor condo, you will have to carry your suitcases, groceries, etc. up the stairs.||||Moreover, I was not informed until after I made the nonrefundable payment in full that one of the pools would not be operational during our stay. It turned out to be the pool on the far side of the property which was NOT within walking distance from our condo. Worse, there are no restroom facilities near the pools!! (Having stayed in a number of resorts on Maui, I can attest that it is normal to find restroom facilities in the pool areas.) Guests are expected to return to their condos and use the restrooms there! That would be workable if your condo is near the pool area. But having to drive back to the other side of the property and climb up to the third floor? That eliminated one of the most important reasons I travel to Maui at least three times per year: long, leisurely afternoons by the pool reading great books & soaking up the sun. What a major disappointment!! And although the staff promised to get back to me to let me know how the situation would be resolved and an accommodation provided . . . they...
Read moreFANTASTIC, BUT WARNING: BOOK A TOP FLOOR ONLY--SEE BELOW. We stayed there for a week, May 8-14, 2019 in Unit F202. The grounds are immaculate and lush, the pool and jacuzzi lovely, and the tennis courts in perfect condition. The beach(es) are wonderful: deep brown sand, no stones, great waves for (body-/boogie board-)surfing if you know what you're doing. Our unit was beautiful, comfortable, and tastefully renovated. The only issue was a real deal-breaker for us though: all the buildings in the complex are 2 and 3 stories but not properly built in terms of sound insulation between the floors. We were awoken every morning (on a vacation during which we were so looking forward to sleeping in) by booming footsteps from the third-floor unit above us--and those were from a child, most likely, and yet loud. When everyone was up, it was like an enlarged timpani section of an orchestra, all day long if they stayed in. We certainly wish we had been warned about this when booking. So a word of real caution: if you go, do yourself a huge favour and make sure you book a TOP floor only. Let the waves of the ocean be your only sound-track. Aside from this, we LOVED this resort...
