Serpico's Restaurant — Restaurant in Maui

I'm not sure what happened. It used to be a great place for breakfast. The last two times? Table service was "so-so"; it wasn't very busy but we had to wait to be acknowledged.

The breakfast offerings are pretty standard. One order was Portuguese sausage (ordered well done), over easy eggs and rice, with a single pancake as a side order. The other order was loco-moco, also with a single side pancake.

After a while, both pancakes came. We expected the rest of the order to be right out. Uhhh, uhhh... as we waited the pancakes were getting cold. Finally, the rest of the order was served. We ate a warm (not hot) breakfast with cold pancakes.

The eggs were fried in brown oil. Well-cooked Portuguese sausage? DEEP fried; never expected to have Portuguese sausage served deep fried. Never had 'em served like that in my 68 years. The loco-moco eggs were also fried using the brown oil. The beef patty was OK as was the brown gravy. The rice bed was pretty mushy... probably didn't sit to steam long enough.

We picked up a meal here to take back to our hotel. The wait was extremely long. We arrived at the time they gave us on the phone order. As we entered there was no clear place to go for pickup, to pay, or ask for service. We wandered around and finally positioned ourself blocking the access between the kitchen and dining area so someone from the staff had to acknowledge our presents. The waitstaff came back after about 3 minutes and told me that it would be another 15 minutes. We left and came back, waited at the bar to pay. We watched our pizza come out of the oven, go into a box, and then be placed aside while we waited another few minutes. We got the wait staff's attention again and asked for our pizza, (which we could see sitting in box) they made their way to the oven area and then had to look around and in the oven for the pizza. The experience of pickup was unpleasant but the food was GREAT. We really enjoyed the pizza and thought it tasted great. Had another slice the next morning (cold) and it was...

It was okay. The servers were very nice but our food, including 2 side caesar salads took 40 mins to come out. The server said before they came "did you get your salads yet?" We also ordered mozzarella sticks and 80% of them were leaking out of the breading so we just ate empty breaded tubes because the cheese was gone.

The chicken parm was good but the noodles were over cooked. The chicken alfredo with broccoli was great. The pasta servings are HUGE. Great price for serving size.

We felt ignored as patrons but it was a Friday night. Over all disappointed that our food took an hour in total to arrive.

The fresh foccacia bread was amazing.

I do think the server didnt punch our order in. Since we arrived and ordered at 625 and another table that came in about 15 mins after us got their dishes before us. It wasnt until about 7:05 until we got our side salads and then another 15-20 minutes until our pasta came.
