Service is severely lacking as if no one who works here has ever worked in a hospitality position in their lives, let alone in what on the surface is a high end property. We had to ask for app plates to be cleared, empty glassware to be cleared, salt because food is under seasoned, a spoon for the gazpacho and a knife for the steak.

Wait time for drinks is too long, even though they are nice cocktails… they should be doing what they can to batch recipes & speed up service especially because their cocktail list is not large.

Polpetti (Meatballs) came out cold, steak frites over done… my father in law had to ask several people for an iced tea refill. The server was very nice but lacked knowledge of basic service skills… I hope for her that the managers should spend more time training because she at least had a good attitude and apologized several times for their mistakes. No one knows seat numbers so prepare for them to just shout “meatballs?!” and “ahi burger?!” when they arrive with some of your food, forgetting the steak in the back as if it was still cooking…. Even though it comes out cold, late.

Relais & Châteaux properties are supposed to be world class. The service here is far from it, unfortunately nullifying the experience of stunning panoramic views as well as the beautiful landscaping & interior decor. And I forgot to mention that Valet, the first staff you see as you enter has a hard time making eye contact or greeting you. No hello on the way in, no thank you on the way out. Definitely won’t be recommending this location to visitors until their service does a full...

IF YOU ARE A HONEYMOONER, NEWLYWED, OR ANNIVERSARY…MAKE THIS YOUR FIRST DESTINATION IN MAUI!!! We have had mama’s fish house, duke’s, etc….they are fantastic yes…but this place BLEW FANTASTIC out of the pacific waters and all those restaurants (with their long reservation times) as well with it. This places has THE BEST CAESAR SALAD with fresh dressing and seafood. It has THE BEST CATCH OF THE DAY. It has the ultimate mouth watering juicy cheeseburger (which smokes the burgers from Chicago) and the lobster tail and oysters were the freshest I’ve ever had. The waitress Niah was extremely kind and professional, she knew the menu well and exactly what drinks to pair it with. She was a total sweetheart and made our evening. The bartender Ben is amazing and makes exotic and simple craft drinks which are clean and amazing fruit juices (no headaches). I loved them! The cook/manager Corwyn were professional and the kindest out of ANY restaurant on Maui. We came 2x it was so good. This place is fantastic and the most genuine romantic atmosphere on Maui. Also, it has the ultimate sunset dinner.

Thank you Birdcage for making our Maui experience unforgettable, we love you. This made our...

A birthday celebration brought us to The Birdcage, the lobby bar of Hotel Wailea, for some pre-dinner drinks. ATMOSPHERE: Located just off the lobby, the open-air bar is dimly lit with very high ceilings, oversized chairs and lounges, and no less than 180-degrees of ocean views. Be sure to check out the tables with bird legs & claws. Also, be careful of bird poop on the chairs. We didn’t see any flying around, but they left their marks and weren’t cleaned off. MENU: Handful of salads, apps, seafood, meats & poultry. BEVERAGE: Bye Bye Birdie This vodka-based drink had a nicely balanced mix of slightly sweet, tart, spicy and herby. FOOD: Beef Tartare We were served this while dining at The Restaurant. This definitely landed in my top 10 apps of all time. The creamy and flavorful beef went oh so well with the chicharron! Highly recommended. SERVICE: Gal server was friendly & professional. The drinks took a while to come out. TIP: No children are allowed at Hotel Wailea. OVERALL: Excellent venue for sunsets.

Very odd experience here - all in all it was a literal 60 minutes to get our drinks from the time we sat down. It felt like an off day but was not great. The raw fish without rice was ok, but the sushi rolls were anything but - with the rice the wrong consistency. Also asked multiple times about gluten and celiac, was assured all items we ordered were safe including the soy sauce (GF soy) - but had a reaction so I believe that wasn’t the case unfortunately. For one drink from start to departure it took almost 2 hours. All that said the atmosphere is fantastic and hopefully it was just a bad night for the team and a one off!

First night of my wife’s birthday 5 night stay at the resort and we were immediately treated like we didn’t belong here. There were only 5 tables being served and they ignored all of our requests. They made back handed insults like “ are you staying here” as if we didn’t belong. They made us feel extremely uncomfortable on our first day here. The actually left my wife completely flabbergasted and confused as if we did something wrong. We were just trying to have a nice quiet meal at our hotel. We’re travelers and been all over the world and never been treated this way.
