well at first it was great, my girlfriend and i went here to dine in because we never tried the place so we thought why not. i ordered a pulled pork sandwich with mashed potatoes and my girlfriend got the catfish dinner, which is a variety of sizes of catfish nuggets, which most of her nuggets were fully pink, slimy, tough and completely raw, so we decided to bring it to the waiter/cashiers attention since shes the one who served us the food. my girlfriend brings a single nugget broken in half and the breading taken off so show the pink slimy raw piece of fish and the woman said something along the lines of “oh let me go talk to them” and went to the back without the piece of fish i had placed in a container, then came back and grabbed the fish and went back and came back, her words were “they said they temp all of the pieces”. so we left, with our food still sitting on the table, i called the restaurant as i was sitting in the parking lot physically looking at our plates of food through a window still on the table and i ask to speak to a manager, a young teenager sounding boy started talking named Avery and i told him what happened and he said the same thing about temping all the pieces so i exaggerated the fact that i myself have cooked catfish and the pieces we brought to the desk were COMPLETELY raw fish, even the skin took alot of effort to pull off of them when others of the cooked ones just slid right off. he proceeded to tell me hes sorry and that they temp it right and since we already came and ate food, theres nothing they can do which i then told him that our food was still sitting on the table, which it is visible that the catfish dinner infact did not get eaten because most were raw. he proceeded to tell me that hes looking right now and it seems they have already took the food back and took care of it so theres nothing he can do except take my name and number and give me another catfish dinner which i do not want. so i offered if i came in with the card i paid with if he could just refund me for the whole meal i paid for and didnt eat and he then said how he is unable to do that for us and that theres nothing he can do. which as a manager, he should have some sort if power for if something like this ever happens in the first place. will not be back. 0...
Read moreI have eaten at Maudes three times, the food was amazing every time. I would give higher praise, but I am running out of adjectives to use. Let's start with the pulled pork, smokey, tender falling apart, wow! The brisket is the same, amazing tenderness and smoked flavor, as was the burnt ends. There was a very small fat layer on the top, for which I was thankfull! The St. Louis ribs were falling off the bone, it was hard to keep track of the bone, it kept sliding out of the meat! Also smokey like the other two meats. All the meats had a dry rub, very subtle, just enough to let the taste of the underlying meat come through. My only disappointment was the smoked chicken wings, they were tender and slightly smokey, but really had very little seasoning and were bland. They suggest several options for covering them with sauces, but on their own they were nohing special. We had the baked beans which were loaded with pulled pork one time and had no meat the second and third time. The three times I had them they were great; the first time there was a noticeable molasses component, the second time there was none, the third time they had no sauce at all? The slaw was homemade and ok. The cornbread was good. I liked their St Louis sauce the best, followed by the spicy bbq, all were good, but a tad too sweet. Ask for the sauce on the side, as they are very heavy handed with it, overwhelming the wonderful meat underneath. I have lived in Memphis and Austin and have had some barbecue at all the iconic institutions, this place is as good as it gets. Please do not be tempted to go to Woodchips bbq downtown, it is an overpriced terrible place, nothing compared to this incredible eatery. The only bad thing I have to say is that this place is run by teenage girls. They are not very sharp, so check you order twice before leaving to make sure...
Read moreSo this was going to be a 1 star review but i dont like reviewing places after just 1 visit. first time i ate the food was kinda bad, wings were dry, cornbread was dry, ribs were burnt, just wasnt enjoying it at all. They were new and i always give places a second chance to get their staff in order and food up to par. Ordered on friday 12/31 to place a to go order. went in there and found out that i had ordered from the flint location and not the lapeer one. The lady at the counter was so helpful in helping me get it figured out and i was still able to get my order in. was told wait would be 15 min but had it ready in 5! got the rib tip dinner. Let me say that is was a complete 180 to what i had the first time around! corn bread was great, Mac n cheese was outstanding! the rib tips were juicy and the sauce amazing!! some times you have to give places a second chance especially if they are a few weeks new. Great work to everyone there and keep up the...
