El Tequila Mexican Restaurant & Bar Mcalester — Restaurant in McAlester

Went to El Tequila for lunch today and the experience was subpar. I ordered Queso as an appetizer and the beef taco salad for my entrée. My friend ordered the chicken taco salad. Neither of us were pleased with our food. The Queso was barely warm and the meat in my taco salad was gross. I took maybe 3 bites and pushed it to the side of the table. My friend said her chicken seemed like the chicken that comes from a can. I used to love this place. I have noticed over the last 6-12 months this place has started going downhill as far as quality of the food. I continued going here because it is close to my house so it is convenient, however, today was the final time for me. I will not go back. The food is gross and the service is subpar. I don't know what happened, but someone lost interest in the business or quit caring about...

Lots of Mexican Food Restaurants in the area. This one is about average. The food was good, Service was good. The Atmosphere was not so great. By that I mean that there was nothing unusual or interesting as compared to others in the area. The restaurant was clean and the server was very nice. However, the interior almost looks like a cafeteria so it's not very pleasing. It was also very loud and that was made worse due to the echo off the walls. There's not much on the walls so not only does it make it feel like a cafeteria it also doesn't reduce the noise level. We'll go back when we're in the mood but there's nothing about this restaurant that makes we want to go back when we're considering Mexican...

Such a great experience! The staff were super accommodating to us wanting to sit outside since we had our small dog with us, and someone always checked on us despite us being the only people in the outdoor seating area (thank you guys). The birria tacos were INCREDIBLE, so freakin good. Like, melt in your mouth, spicy, smoky, cheesy mouth orgasm good. All the food came out surprisingly quickly and piping hot. Everything had awesome flavor. The guac was somehow exactly how I make it at home so 10/10 alone for the guac, and I’m super picky about guac (and food in general, tbh). So, the food, service, ambience, and price somehow all hit the right spots. Please...
