CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU GO!!!!! I came to this location this evening to order dinner for my family and me. I went inside to place the to-go order and it all went downhill when they called me for my food. Once my order was ready I asked for an extra bag to separate one of the orders. With the amount of attitude I got as a result of that request, you would have thought I’d asked for a free order of Mac and cheese. After I received the extra bag, I began separating the food and saw that one of my items was missing and my nachos did not look like what was advertised. I informed the server who gave me my food, and she dug through the trash to find the receipt, as they toss them once they have prepared the orders. I tried to present her with mine, but she wouldn’t look at it. Another, much more pleasant server came over to see what was going on and attempted to assist me. She informed the manager that I was missing wings and he demanded she check my bag even though everything was already laid out on the counter. I waited a good two minutes for them to scan their order screens and listen to the manager constantly tell them to check my empty bags on the counter. I reminded them that my nachos were not prepared as it was advertised and was told that they would give me a side of the ingredients (see the toppings on the side below 🙄🤦🏽♀️). I asked if they were going to remake the nachos and was told again that they will give me the toppings. 😡 The presentation was horrible and my attempt to dress it up once I got home failed.
My first experience with City Barbeque was at the Decatur location and I loved it. We’ve even tried the location up north (Gwinnett, I believe) and it was good. First time at this one, was a decent experience. However, this time, totally disappointing. This place needs new management. The performance of the staff is a reflection of the leader that is guiding them.
In the future, I shall take the drive to Decatur for my City...
Read moreFour star food, but 5 star service. From the time we walked in the door, Tiara was friendly and helpful. She was very attentive to all of the other guests as well and even stopped by our table to check on us several times. As for the food, we came in about an hour before close, and I am assuming that is why the food was not as good as it could have been. We ordered quite a bit of food, including the brisket, multiple sides, and a couple of desserts. Overall, the flavor wasn't bad, but the macaroni and cheese, corn pudding, brisket, and peach cobbler were all dry. The peach cobbler was light on peaches and heavy on cobbler, and the extra peaches could have helped moisten the dish. The brisket was well seasoned but needed more sauce than I usually care to use. Speaking of sauces, I really liked the variety of options. I tried them all, and I combined the brush fire and sweet as my favorite. All of the sauces were exactly as described on the website, but the swine wine was definitely more of a marinade than a sauce, in my opinion. Finally, the ambiance was just right for the occasion. The parking lot was clean, and I could smell the hickory smoke from the time I got out of my vehicle. The dining room and patio were also both clean, and I enjoyed the blues playing in the background. Despite the above listed areas of improvement, the food was still better than a lot of other BBQ spots. I have referred several of my other BBQ friends here and will be back. The food was definitely worth what I paid, and finding service anywhere near what Tiara provided is almost impossible today. She was more attentive than a lot of full service restaurants I have been to and makes coming back an...
Read morePeople, People! All of the reviews are well received. But as a person who has been eating City BBQ for over six years. It’s worth the money. But this location should just change its name to City BBQ McDonough or City BBQ south. But it should be some distinction. It’s a new restaurant, so upper management, and owners will make excuses for this location, instead of coming down to make it better. Management here absolutely sucks. Their idea of training is just put them on the line, and they will figure it out. Ordering inside will compel you to leave. Looking at long line, while also noticing a manger wrapping bread in plastic wrap, will compel you to leave. Then it’s just the area. McDonough is a great place to visit, and live. With several great communities. But I would never hire local. The people out here are very childish and can come across very aggressive. The music you hear playing sometimes will make you hate this place. Honestly they should just sale the land and the building. They shouldn’t want their name associated with this place. It’s ratchet as hell. And if they keep the same management. This place will not last long. Especially with the prices. You literally have people saying they would rather eat at Nasty Shane’s rib shack. That’s says a hell of a lot. Unfortunately though this restaurant will not change. With the failed attempts at them making the famous City BBQ banana pudding, and the food not being as fresh, coming out dry. The Mac and cheese, Oh my! That stuff can be so dry, it literally looks like it has burn bread in it, when is dried out, and they will serve it, upper Management refuses to acknowledge that their management and staff are the...
