Maya Creamery & Lounge seems to have taken the worst elements of an ice cream shop, a college dorm, and a roadside chai stall, then blended them together into one incoherent mess.
The approach alone is discouragingâoverflowing trash cans at the curb, a trail of napkins drifting across the parking lot, and weeds sprouting unchecked from cracked pavement. Any sense of charm is further ruined by the haphazard âpatioâ area: mismatched chairs, sticky tables, and zero landscaping stewardship. It feels less like a lounge and more like the smoking area behind a factory.
Inside, the dĂŠcor is a confused marriage of Instagram bait and discount furniture. Neon signs scream platitudes against walls that have clearly not seen a fresh coat of paint in years. The counters are smudged, the floors are sticky in patches, and the air carries an unpleasant undercurrent of fryer oil that clashes with the supposed scent of âfresh waffle cones.â
The ice cream itself? Overly sweet, poorly textured, and served in a way that leaves fingerprints on the glassware. Back home, kulfi was treated as a craftâhere it is scooped like cattle feed. The so-called âloungeâ aspect amounts to teenagers sprawled across couches, shouting over music that is too loud to allow for any civilized conversation.
The clientele is the predictable mishmashâfamilies letting children climb on furniture, groups taking endless selfies while blocking the counter, and a general noise level that would shame a Mumbai train station.
Maya Creamery & Lounge is not a place for those with standards. It is for those who confuse neon lighting with atmosphere and sugar overload with sophistication. For someone raised among Indiaâs true culinary and cultural treasures, this is not an indulgenceâit...
Read moreBased on our friend's recommendation, my family and I decided to visit Maya Creamery after they attended the opening ceremony and had the pleasure of meeting the Mayor of McKinney. Initially, we were a bit hesitant, assuming it would be like any other typical ice cream shop. However, to our delight, Maya Creamery turned out to be anything but ordinary.
What sets Maya Creamery apart is their unique and elegant take on serving ice cream rolls. We were amazed by their selection of flavors, especially the ones inspired by Indian cuisine. Among the flavors we tried, the Motichoor Laddoo and Mango-Lychee Twist stood out as particularly delicious.
In addition to their delectable ice cream rolls, Maya Creamery also offers a variety of other refreshing beverages. From Bubble tea to fresh fruit fusion tea, Lemonade refreshers, and their signature Falooda, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Speaking of Falooda, it's a Mughalai cold dessert with Persian origins, traditionally made with vermicelli, rose syrup, sweet basil seeds, and milk, served with a scoop of ice cream. Maya Creamery's take on this classic dessert is truly...
Read moreI was so disappointed!! The service was so so bad. They took so long just to do a rolled ice cream order, and when I asked about it, the owner said because it is a different flavor than what the others ordered so we did theirs first. WHAT? While the rolled ice cream tasted decent, I did not appreciate being the last priority customer there.
Let me also explain what I witnessed: I saw the workers wiping the sweat off their forehead with their gloves on, and then proceeded to keep touching the ice cream with their hands. Absolutely unsanitary! I also witnessed another worker carry/lift dirty machines from one place to another using gloves and then used the same gloves to touch the rolled ice cream. Lastly, I witnessed the owner carrying a toddler behind the counters and instead of taking my money for my order, she was playing with the toddler. I waited for 5 minutes before she finally came.
Furthermore, the environment was muggy, humid, and smelly. Seemed like they don't believe in A/C.
I refuse to ever go to this...
