The customer service/management at Fish Taco Cabin John is awful...I will NEVER dine at Fish Taco again. My friend found a hair in his food when I ordered online for us on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023. I called and spoke to the manager, he apologized and offered to issue a refund. The situation was handled perfectly...initially. Fast forward to Sunday when I went into online banking and saw that the amount was put in mistakenly as a purchase as opposed to a refund. I called back to explain this issue, was interrupted, no apology given and was told that unless I came back into the store with my bank statement I would be only provided a Fish Taco gift card for the shrimp bowl that had the hair. I live 20+ miles from the store but this manager refused to look up the transaction. When I got to Fish Taco and asked to speak to Carlos the manager, there again was no apologies for the hair in my food, the additional charge error or my troubles. He informed me that he'd already issued the refund. Another gentleman took over the conversation. When I asked if he was the owner, he replied that it didn't matter who he was and that, although the erroneous 2nd transaction had already cleared my account, and I was told that I needed to physically come into the store, I needed to wait until Monday. There's more...too much to type. I still haven't been refunded for the second transaction. Hair in food happens...it's how management handles it is what matters. I will NEVER eat at another Fish Taco...
Read moreThis place used to be better but seems to have really gone down hill. I recently got a blackened fish bowl - the pieces of fish were genuinely one inch wide. They were so narrow I had assumed most of the pieces were under the rice and beans, but was unpleasantly surprised to learn that in fact my $15 "signature fish bowl" contained a total of two 1x1x4 inch slivers of fish. Call this place long john slivers.
The rest was almost entirely white rice and black beans, with a little corn-I feel like they used to put more veggies in there but maybe not anymore. They nickel and dime you for every add on, though. Want some picked jalapeños, that'll be a dollar. Some salsa verde, another dollar. Jicama slaw? You got it, another dollar.
Then they charge you a carry out fee, and then they include a tip prompt. I have no problem tipping the people who pack my food, but it should be one or the other.
Overall, it costs more than similar places (eg Chipotle, Chipotle, ljs) with worse...
Read moreEverything tastes good, but the portions are very inconsistent, and increasingly too small. Too often the tortillas completely dwarf the contents inside and too often the small bowls have a rice to protein ratio that annoys, especially considering the generous tip we always leave prior to receiving the food. If the portions were consistently reasonable we would happily visit for a good meal at least once a week, but instead now only visit once per season for a light snack with friends.
Update: Like everything else prices have understandably gone up here, fine, but what is not fine are the ever shrinking portions! They are puny at this particular location. Not so much at other locations. It's no longer worth the time or money. We would encourage management to fix the portions to a reasonable taco joint comp. Raise the prices if necessary but serving mini tacos and mini burritos at these prices...
