Went for a 50th birthday for someone who loves sushi (not many choices close to everyone) and it was a terrible experience. The food itself was a solid 3 stars but the staff was incredibly rude. It started when we walked in (a little late, still well before closing time), rather than a welcome or even a hello the entire staff, a manager included, just kinda stared at us. We told them we were with the party and walked back on our own. The table was full and we needed to pull another table up, which I thought would be okay considering the restaurant was completely empty aside from us, but when I asked the manager said "No, but looks like we're going to do it anyway." I thought maybe it was just a bad joke.. but I was wrong. The rest of the night was filled with bad service with the worst attitude I've seen at a restaurant. And being in the service biz for over 14 years, I've seen a bunch. The dinner was topped off with the manager coming out to address the table, at the end of our meal, to tell us where we're sitting was a fire hazard and that next time we wouldn't be doing it. Mind you, this was in a completely empty restaurant. And yeah our party grew a bit but you'd think they'd be happy about getting a little business. They were not. I will not be coming back and urge you to do the same. A horrid experience for slightly sub-par sushi. Do yrself a favor and take the extra trip to Saii or Sushi...
Read moreTo begin, this is not the same restaurant from before the closing. The menu has been changed entirely, and unfortunately not for the better.
The menu is packed with fancy ideas that sound interesting. The plating looks nice, but the execution falls flat. The prices are on par with upscale options in downtown OKC, but neither the atmosphere nor the quality justify that.
There is no drink menu. House sake is only served by the shot. The sushi menu has a handful of house rolls, but nearly none of the standard classics. Rather than wasabi and pickled ginger, sushi rolls were served with picked sugar beets. Spicy tuna was packed with extra options that sound trendy but mostly took away from the roll. The panko crumb frying does have potential at least.
The staff is nice enough, but things were disorganized. Issues such as sake serving size weren't mentioned until after service.
Didn't get around to trying fried rice or desserts, but the sushi and pickle plate were just unimpressive enough that I'm not inclined to go back and try. There are better options on site.
Unfortunately this ended up being the most disappointing sushi I've had all year. Soto used to be more organized, had a good mix of classic and unique menu items, and the unique options were actually good. Now it seems like nothing but a...
Read moreHotter than the entire casino, soda was out of date, and the food was horrible. It tasted like cat food smelled. Our waitress was all over the place, and the food took ages despite us being the only 4 in the restaurant. Also, my fish was horribly deboned, it felt like eating splinters. The sushi chef took out a JBL Speaker and placed it directly next to the table, blaring Crazy Train at maximum volume for a good 20 minutes before the waitress made a comment on its noisiness. All in all, the place was muhch better before its closing during COVID. Do...
