Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers — Restaurant in McPherson

Despite the ongoing virus crisis (or is it crisis gone viral?) and the not terribly surprising over-reaction, by the general world populace, it is absolutely a genuine pleasure to find resteraunts of all kinds extending alternate ways to get our favorite foods with as little annoyance and aggravation as is possible. It was an especial delite to stop in at Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, where I was greated by a very friendly, upbeat and outgoing young man, who stood at the entrance, with a welcoming smile at the ready, to greet patrons and collect orders to be taken to the kitchen. This employee was able to knowledgeably answer any questions I had, since it was my first (but not last!) visit to this establishment, and with the spirit of true salesmanship, confidently upsold my date into a fantastic loaded frozen custard sundae...with whipped cream and TWO cherry's on top, since we were on a date. I am looking forward to my next visit at Freddy's, hopefully at which time I will be able to eat in rather than the cab of the pickup I was in, where I am certain I will encounter the same great service with a smile and...

It took an incredibly long time to get through the line at the drive thru and there was only 2 cars in front of us. Luckily we were just stopping there on the way back home from Hutch to Salina. It would've been a really bad situation if someone had been on a lunch break from work. Unacceptable as a dive thru standard. Don't think I've ever waited that long in my LIFE in a drive thru. On top of all that, when we finally got our food, the kids chicken tenders were cold and hard, the burgers were burnt and crunchy nearly all the way through, to the point I had to tear off the edges to make it less unpleasant and barely edible. The bag our food came in almost seemed if it had been reused. It had some random smudges all over it, and when I sat the bag on my lap, whatever orangy-yellow smudge/debris it was got all over my pants. Even the top of the bun on the burger was horribly messy, like it had been set on a filthy counter on top of some sort of sauce! We won't ever return to this location. Freddy's is always my go-to when I hanker for a good burger and dog in ElDorado. The onion rings are absolutely phenomenal. I prefer to get the Chicago Style dog snd the double cheeseburger with MPO+JAL. The jalapeno dipping sauce is also great on the burger. Gives the pickled onions jalapeno a kick. I also like Freddy's Patty Melt. The fried onions are carmelized to perfection and the there is...dun dun dun...wait for it...the Turtle. God must have had a hand in it when Freddy decided to add custard to his menu. Thank you, thank you.
