The sweet potato hash was incredible. It's supposed to come with spinach and onion. We asked for no onion. Totally loved it. What an unexpectedly delicious light cinnamon flavor. A must try. The homemade blueberry muffin was every bit as good and perfectly toasted on the griddle. Outstanding all around. It was packed, and the acoustics were loud, but once the crowd was a little less than a completely full house, the background noise levels were ok. The staff could ditch the music, though. A bookshelf radio system adds very much unneeded and unhelpful noise - the place is loud enough as it is without having to talk over music, plus other people taking over the music. They've applied some sound deadening materials to the ceiling to try to help, but it's not doing much good. The problem (hint to the owner) is that they've painted the acoustic ceiling tile, thereby defeating the acoustical qualities of the ceiling tile. Replace your ceiling tiles with rough surfaced tiles, don't paint them this time (just buy black colored ones if you want black), and the noise levels will drop dramatically. There's a reason they're called "acoustic" ceiling tiles. Despite the higher than typical background noise levels, it's a pretty great place...
Read moreBeen living in Sherborn for 3 years and just discovered this place. I don't know about you, but the cost of going to breakfast has been going up and up for the past 20 years. It used to be you could get eggs and bacon, toast and coffee for about 5 bucks. Now that costs 20 bucks. It's crazy. And the diners haven't gotten better. So it's really disappointing when you go out to breakfast with your family and the bill is $60.... For breakfast. If that breakfast is poor quality, or takes forever to come out, you wonder why you ever went out in the first place! The Griddle Cafe has good food, it came out on time, the waitress was pleasant and friendly, and the bill for: 2 orders of pancakes, 2 coffees, side of bacon ( cooked perfectly ), a diet Coke, an apple juice, an 2 eggs and toast, 1 egg n ham sandwich, and a muffin... With tip $55. ...
Read moreAmazing food, definitely recommend. But...service was terrible. It was 2 of us. We both have worked as waitresses, so we know how hard it gets sometimes to give good service when it is busy or customers are rude. Place was not busy and we were not rude. 3 tables that came in after us got their food before us. By the time we got our food, 2 of them had left. At no point did our waitress come to us and at least tell us that there is a little delay with our food. We ordered 2 meals and one order of pancakes to share. When we finished our food and were waiting for pancakes, our waitress Shannon gives us our check. Pancakes never came out. Again food is amazing but they lost good customers due to bad...
