Double Tapp Grill — Restaurant in Melbourne

My family and I were visiting a relative at Holmes hospital and decided to eat at this restaurant. We ordered two burgers and one of them came out burnt to a crisp! As the waitress sat the burger down she looked at me asked if I wanted the kitchen to remake it and I told her yes! I also ordered the meatloaf as take out to take back to my relative in the hospital. The meatloaf was also burned to a crisp on both sides! The side items were good, mashed potatoes home made, we also had the mahi mahi and that was excellent! The staff was overall friendly! We asked our second waitress (after a shift change) if we could take our drink to go and she replied “I hate to tell you the N word” That was completely inappropriate and unnecessary and I left the restaurant feeling very disappointed by that final comment just as leaving out the door! This place has a lot going for it. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. Everything is clean and there are lots of Highwaymen paintings decorating the walls. Our server was prompt and friendly. We both ordered the daily special of BBQ Smash Burger. It came with one side so we got Garlic Fries and the house salad. The salad was too large to fit on the plate so our server brought a larger one. The burgers were impressive! 2 patties with pulled pork, lettuce, tomato, pickles, fried onions and cheddar cheese. The burger was delicious without everything else, which made it even better. It was so large, we had to eat it with a knife and fork. And the garlic fries were delicious too. Double Tapp Grill in Melbourne is hands-down one of my favorite spots now! From the moment we walked in, the experience was stellar. The customer service was truly above and beyond – everyone was warm and welcoming, making sure our visit was perfect. A special shoutout to Zoey, who went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and taken care of. Her positive energy and friendly demeanor really added to the experience! 😊
