I definitely want to like this place, its a small town cute little spot. That being said I haven't had the best personal experience with their food here. The food definitely has good taste and I enjoy their coffee. But the first time i ordered their buffalo chicken panini I was half way through eating it when i realized there was tiny fibers stuck on to the panini. I went up and told staff and they did offer to give my money back or make me a new sandwich. I think they had been cleaning off the panini press with a cloth, and the fibers from the cloth were left behind and then pressed into my panini. The second time I ordered their chicken pesto sandwich and i find a small black hair on the sandwich. The most recent time i ordered Caesar salad I swear I found a similar black hair in the container of the salad. The amount of times I have found hair/fiber in my food from here really makes me not want to go back and try other foods they offer. To be completely honest, their Caesar salad really isn't worth ordering either. It's literally just a bunch of lettuce thrown into a container, a few croutons and a little bit of shredded cheese sprinkled in. I know its just Caesar salad so their isn't much to expect but there isn't anything special to it, its a bare minimum salad, you could probably just go to store and buy a better one pre-made for less money. And for the amount of salad they give you in the container, they only give you a tiny cup of dressing to put on it. It barely coats the salad, I was literally eating dry salad... which is borderline ridiculous to me if I'm paying $7.50 for it. I shouldn't have to ask for extra dressing either when the tiny cup they give doesn't even cover it to begin with. To think you have to pay $3 extra dollars for chicken to be added, it isn't worth $10.50 just to get chicken added on top of this basic bare minimum salad, sorry. That would literally cost more money for a basic bare minimum salad with chicken than it does for a panini, which is their menu staple for lunch time. How does that literally make any sense? Again, the taste of their food is good (aside from the lame salad situation), but due to my repeated unfortunate experiences having food/fiber in my food I have to only give them 2 stars. That kind of thing really should not...
Read moreWent to the shop to order the $24 special with a coupon (2 paninis, 2 drinks, and two bags of chips). I ordered one Reuben panini and one Ultimate Pastrami for the sandwiches. However, when I got home, I realized that at least one sandwich was switched up for ham rather than for the pastrami. The taste was very obviously ham not pastrami and also the look of the meat was obviously ham. The order slip was attached to the bag and was correct just as I ordered it. This is very upsetting…if they perhaps ran out of the pastrami, they could have at least told me. What a bad precedent to set and a great way to lose customers. I plan to return in the morning and speak with the manager or someone in charge. So…when you buy a sandwich at Jitters BE SURE TO CHECK THE MEAT!!! Make sure it’s what you ordered! Don’t trust that they will do the right thing…I was duped, surely they have tried the “switch-a-roo” on the other “”older people” getting take out! Watch out…that is some game they’re playing! I RETURNED TODAY TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER. THE BEST TREATMENT I HAVE EVER RECEIVED WITH AN APOLOGY. This was only the first time it happened but I am very impressed with the reaction and generous response! Let me just say…they more than made it right!! Very professional response…I assume it was an honest mistake. I will definitely continue going to Jitter’s - they definitely have great...
Read moreBeen here a few times now, I have a sense of place.
Food is good, love the sandwiches. Coffee is also good. Decent array of homemade sweets and accoutrements.
Atmosphere is terrible, think 90s chic though in a way that hasn’t been updated. The ceiling looks like it’s seen better days. The art is boring af, never changes, and was clearly purchased at home goods. I don’t feel a community vibe with his place at all, just seems like some café that could be anywhere in the country.
The worst is the service. I’ve never been in and ordered a breakfast sandwich, and had to wait less than 20 minutes. It is ridiculous. Even when there are just a few people inside already sitting, it is clearly not busy, the kitchen takes orders from online, and is first come first serve including the online orders. I have no problem with taking online orders, but if someone physically walks in the door, I feel their order should jump an online order, or at least, the process should be mixed up, one online, one physical person, and the next online, etc. I sat down waiting for a sandwich when I saw the kitchen make three separate online orders in row and throw them in bags on the table, waiting to be picked up at some point in the future. There’s no way I’m going to continue ordering food from this place, it’s perpetually disappointing. I wish melrose had a legitimate cool breakfast café, this...
