Ocean Sushi Restaurant — Restaurant in Melrose

Guys, hands down one of the BEST and most affordable sushi rolls I've had in the area! I discovered Ocean sushi through my uber eats app and saw that they had some special buy 1 get 1 free.. 16 pieces of sushi rolls for roughly 10 bucks - and I though, it can't be that bad.. so I ordered!

Well, I was wrong. IT WAS SO FREEAAAKIN' DELICIOUS! Portions are huge!!!! 16 pieces for such an affordable price and what truly blew my mind was the freshness of food and the size of the rolls! My first one was Shrimp Tempura.. 10/10! Then a week later.. I saw they had Spicy Crab meat! Holy smokes! 12/10!!! My personal favorite!! I'm a big guy and I workout a lot and though it might not be enough to fill me but this restaurant keeps proving me wrong 🤣 and the last one that I had was Baked Salmon! Man. Just because I prefer Spicy crab meat Imma give it 11/10! 🤣

Today, I saw they have have Spicy tuna maki and I just can't wait to order it. I'm not trying to say what it isn't and I've nothing from this review except from sharing my honest opinion. This restaurant truly cares about the food they serve - and chef remembered me after seeing me only once.

I used to like this place, but over time the owner has gotten cheaper and less friendlier. The food has gotten progressively tasteless. They keep changing the dishes and making it worse. They use a lot of vinegar. Food I used to love, I can't order again because it just is nasty. I had to throw out a couple of dishes because it was not what I expected or used to. I recently placed an order: the soup was watery. I received the wrong order, but the owner refused to acknowledge that they made a mistake and they blamed me for placing the wrong order in the first place... I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK AGAIN!!

I have never been let down by Ocean Sushi. Whether it be deliver it dine-in, I have always enjoyed this sushi restaurant.

The best way I can describe their sushi is that it's clean. Clean as is, they pay attention to the details, it looks perfect, and all the the flavors come through distinctly and powerfully. It's not sloppy looking, and the flavors don't mush into something bland.

Service is always very fast and polite, be it a delivery driver or the dine-in waitstaff.

My go-to is the Phoenix Maki, for it's perfect compliments of flavor and texture. The spicy mayo and scallions give it a spice, while the avocado and rice cool it down. The tempura shrimp and tempura flakes give it a savory crunch, while the avocado and mayo make it creamy.

A decent portion is a special maki and one of the smaller, regular maki. Prices are about average for sushi in the Boston area.
