When I arrived there was a line out the door. You would assume it’s because of the amazing pizza. There are no phones so you have to just go there, no issue. You get there and you stand in line, they allow a person to come inside and order a pizza, but until the pizza is done and that person leaves, they don’t allow another person to enter the store. You could possibly stand in the line, to be turned away because there’s no product left. Not a very good system at all. He knew he was gonna get slammed, but to treat people like that to me is crazy, we have to drive pretty far to get there in the first place. Go right when it opens if you want to get pizza, I’m going to go right when it opens eventually. But getting pizza is about being able to love it and get it for dinner sometimes, and you’ll never be able to just go to this place and get pizza for your family ever. You will have to stand in a huge line until everyone pizzas are done in front of you, only to hope you’ll get a pizza. So you basically have to make an appointment to go try this pizza right when it opens, and not even know if it’s worth it yet. Every review is saying the owner is really really nice, well that’s great, glad he’s a nice guy. I’m rating my experience on this restaurant truthfully, with no biased, because I wasn’t going to wait just to meet someone, when the process of even ordering a pizza, was having to wait for everyone else to order and get there pizza, before you can even enter the building to order your own pizza. Really weird process, hopefully he will figure it out, will be back to at least get to try it one of these times. 3rd time trying around 2pm and it not working. ————— I saw that the owner commented, my review isn’t based on him as a person, my reviews are based on my experience with whatever I am reviewing. So that people reading my reviews get a truthful response about an establishment or product before they decided to try it. For some people waiting in a huge line for hours and not even getting pizza would be a huge inconvenience. I haven’t tried the pizza yet, but we’re going there today right when it opens, we will see the opening process, see how fast the line starts to get long, and how long it takes for us to get a pizza, and to try and add how the pizza tastes to the review. ——— Went about a month ago, the pizza was good, I would’ve liked mine with less cheese and a little more well done, but still very good! The process took an extremely long time, even showing up at opening. Not sure about the process now, maybe he’s...
Read moreIn a sea of countless Detroit-style and cheap, pizza chain options here in Michigan, there is an absolute gem of a place known as Fredi The Pizza Man. 5 stars isn’t enough.
If you want authentic New York style pizza and don’t want to travel to the City That Never Sleeps, look no further than this little spot in Melvindale. If you enjoy pizza and you haven’t stopped in here yet, you are severely missing out. It’s everything you want. Thin, crispy and flavorful pizza dough/crust. Mouth watering sauce and high-quality tasting cheese. The classic cup style pepperoni is ridiculously good. It’s the whole pizza package you want. We order more, with the intent of bringing home some leftover slices, but always end up finishing everything on-site. It’s that great.
Besides your standard NY style pies, he offers several Margarita options. And pizza aside, you can also get Calzones, Gnocchi, Ravioli and Goulash. Speaking of the Goulash…don’t sleep on that stuff, it’s great. Enjoyable year round but would also be perfect on a cold winter day.
Scrolling through some of the poor reviews this place has gotten and you can’t help but wonder how some people think. Complaints about the hours of this place, etc…get outta here with that stuff. This guy and his crew are the real deal and not your typical chain place. Classic Mom & Pop type of setup that you can tell puts in serious work day in/day out, all while giving back to surrounding Michigan communities for a great cause (Autism).

Read morePortnoy was mostly right. Legit 🍕. Best I’ve had for this style and for me, overall. Through the days that they’re closed, they’re killing me, smalls!!! I have a hard time getting over there, but that’s awesome, they can get home at reasonable times and don’t have to slave away seven days a week.
I’d give them a slight edge over tomatoes a pizza in Farmington strictly on the people who worked the counter and made the food, Fredi. Just in my experience waiting in line watched it run right and smooth, despite literally 50 people in line 12 minutes after they opened. Friendly, personable, had a nice system in place to deal with the line.
Nobody was yelling you could see everybody was just doing their job doing their thing and pumping out nonstop greatness. Best pizza you’re going to find anywhere around here. (This and tomato’s. That’s your options)(don’t ever compare anything else because they are not it)(I’ve been doing them all damn near full-time lately)
Go ahead and tip the lady $100 at the counter. I don’t know her, but she was so damn nice and friendly. She deserves it. if you can afford it, hit her with $100. Make her day. Then, if you find me on the Internet and show me a video that you did it, I’ll come down and I’ll buy a pizza we’ll split it and laugh that we’re meeting from Google maps review. and since she got tipped $100 bucks will make her buy us a Coke. ;).
There’s lines out the door when I walked in when they opened up the reviews speak for themselves. You can see in the pictures you can watch the rating but just go...
