Captain JJ Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in Memphis

I went there for the first time today, got the steak sandwich and fried okra. Both were really good. I was surprised at how much fried okra came in a small order! Looked and tasted like fresh batter, none of the pre-made garbage I've had at other places. Batter had an almost slight lemon flavor, which isn't much of a surprise since it's a fish place. Didn't effect the deliciousness of them at all though. My order took about 20 minutes to make but there was a family of four-five ahead of me so I wasn't expecting it to come out super quick. Glad it didn't either. JJs isn't fast food, if my order came out in five minutes there would be a problem. I will definitely come here again, I want to try the gyro and the fried pickles!

I haven't been to captain jjs in a couple of years. And man, have they went downhill. The only thing i would probably buy from here is their hot wings.They barely season the fries after i told them to season well. It taste bland and plain. They honey hot is nasty. The food was cooked fresh but the fish need little more cooking time and seasoning to the fish or meal batter because the fish taste like flat out water and I am assuming it is soaking in water all day in the refrigerator so I understand but add little more seasoning.
