Rock House Live Midtown — Restaurant in Memphis

So I’m a regular at this establishment and I’ve waited 5 months to leave a review. (Because I’m honest) This is a dive bar. They have had MULTIPLE staff changes. So no consistency… Doesn’t seem like the bar is taken Sit on a barstool and you will see what I me. There are only 6 chairs at a bar top that can easily hold 10-12. Check the dust on ceiling. Yet the prices of drinks are going up.

I love the people. Jeopardy is great at 3:30 (if there are seats). The karaoke is awesome after 9pm. Drinks are average. But I wish this location wasn’t the red-headed stepchild of Rockhouse. The other locations are awesome. This one… leaves much to be desired and I would love to see it doing better.

UPDATED The drink prices have gone up 2x in the last 5 months. So says my credit card (I got receipts). If that’s not true, then I’ve been overcharged.

Oh yeah, when I pay in cash, they round up. So me getting my same three drinks, always come to .51 so I lose 50 cents every time. BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO CHANGE! They straight stealing my money bc they don’t have change. A transaction should be that and I should get my change back! Gratuity is another story!

The bar holds 12 during Jeopardy comfortably. So 7 is a definitely undershooting. Can’t wait to not get cut on a barstool bc a screw is in my thigh. New stools are on the clock now….lets see how long it will take.

I forgot to mention the filtered jukebox. Yeah, I spend too much $$ in this bar to hear “let the bodies hit the floor”raging but can’t hear Drake or Jack Harlow… most rap is filtered?!?!

It sounds like I hate the place, however I don’t. The people/patrons are awesome! However, I know what a great dive looks, smells and feels like.

After being there for a total of 10 minutes on a Thursday night or January 14, 2023 my first and only time ever going has been the utter worst . I called before hand at 9:18 pm to see if they had karaoke, lady in phone said karaoke was very night. My party of 3 and I arrived at 11:30. My friend first went to the restroom and we waited by her , the space was almost empty, when she was done we made ourselves towards the dj and bar. At the bar we were not even greeted the first thing the bartender lady said to us was “do you have your ids?” I had forgotten mine in my husbands truck so unfortunately I didn’t have mine and said I will not be ordering since I do not have mine , everyone else in my party did though, I am a 25 year old, this place didn’t id to enter , she proceeded to tell me how I could not even be in there without id. If that’s the case, why not I’d at entrance ? My friends and I were not causing a ruckus or anything, we literally had just walked up and she told me I couldn’t even be I there without an id, that’s completely understandable, but why not if at the door and wait to tell someone when they are just waiting a little beat the bag by their friends . We just walked out. Worst service ever, did not feel welcome at all since walking in . Definitely do not go in...

Great place to unwind! I went there last month. I was asked to get on stage and play I didn't have any songs prepared so I declined. One of my buddies played his six-string Acoustic and his Mandolin we all seemed to be having a good time. I took some pic and videos and actually streamed live to Face Book for the first time. That gave me an Idea. That if I practiced some songs I could stream live and see if could find some situations that might shake some of the dust off!
