Let me start by saying, my son and I were traveling through Memphis and we realized it was getting late and even the late night spots would be closing (plus it was Thanksgiving eve). We hunted out for a place that was open after 1a, and found a Wendy's that added 14 min onto our trip. We get there 19 min before they closed and for 13 of those minutes, we did not move. No one asked to take our order on the speaker box and the line grew exponentially. All the while, I am looking next door at this Cook Out spot and their line had been making great progress. Bump it -- let's go!
While sitting in Cook Out's line we peruse the menu. We become the next car to order so I roll down my window to hear the what the car in front ordered hoping to get a suggestion. The guy on the speaker (who I later learn is Steve) is giving thee most awesome service!! I turned to my son and said "no he is not giving 5 star service at 2 in the morning!"
I order, and I get the same kind treatment! As we are at the window getting our food, he's taking new orders and gracefully telling a customer that he is unable to order that specific request given the proximity to closing but offered a suggestion he thought might be a good replacement. All while handing us our food and requests for condiments. I was uber impressed by him.
The food was better than my expectations and we had a few lessons learned for our ordering preferences for the next time. Son does not like crinkle cut fries (I do though!) and he would have ordered double nuggets for his side opts. I would have gotten fries and corn dog. Burgers DO taste like those from a cook out. Great...
Read moreI love the Cookout's pulled pork and white Cheddar bites! Their pulled pork is very flavorful without the Bar-B-Q sauce. Which is saying something because most times I find pulled pork to be bland unless you have a really good sauce on it. They put Cole Slaw on it (I get mine on the side.) Which is really sweet and not mayonnaisey. Their White Cheddar bites are way better than Mozzarella sticks. They are not as chewy but, they are buttery and melt in your mouth, yummy!
The first time I went to a Cook Out restaurant was in Cordova/Germantown, TN which is a nice area. It was explained to me that it was designed for college students on a budget. So your not going to get high ticket items like ribs. They don't even have potato salad or baked beans. They have cheap food like 2 hot dogs and fries or hamburgers and fries, etc... The one thing we love is the plate deal for $4.99. You get your entree for me that's my bar-b-q sandwich (Slaw on the side) 2 sides which can be fries or my favorite White Cheddar Bites. You can also pick another of what I would consider an entree like chicken/beef quesadilla, chicken wrap, or hot dogs. With all of that you get a drink too! They have this drink that they call Cheerwine (Non-Alcoholic). They mix themselves...kinda reminds me of a cherry Dr Pepper maybe...I don't usually get it because it's sweet but, my family loves it!
Now we don't have one where we live in MS but, they have them all over in TN. So we will stop when we pass one if we're hungry or funds are little low and we still want to...
Read moreI’ve been to this location many times but this time my experience was horrible. I ordered three different meals on my order for me and my two siblings. After I finished, the cashier named Macoya told me my total. When I got to the window they handed me my food but one of the meals on my order was not handed to me. I then informed the cashier that I was missing another meal. Macoya told me that she did not ring jt up. I then began to hand her back my cash in order for her to pay me out for the last order she missed over the headset. Macoya then told me that if I wanted my third meal from my order, that I would have to pull back around in line and also suggested that I should walk up to the walk up window at 2:00 in the morning. I then proceeded to inform them again I did my part as the customer by telling them everything I wanted on my order before pulling up to the window, and that it was Macoya’s fault that my order was wrong. At this point, I wanted my money back for the entire order because they wanted me to go back around to order after I had already done so. Macoya got the manager named Candice to come to the window to handle the problem. Candice informed me that she will not be giving me a refund no matter if it’s cash or card. Candice did not do her job as a manager. I am disappointed by this experience and I will be calling corporate on...
