I have been a regular customer of this restaurant for a long time, but my last two experiences have been very disappointing. I ordered two biryanis through Uber Eats, and the food was stale. The rice was soggy, the peas smelled rotten, and the chicken didn’t taste fresh at all. Honestly, I don’t even know how long they’ve been preserving this chicken in the freezer, but it definitely didn’t taste like it was freshly cooked.
Before placing my second order, I even called the restaurant and specifically asked if the biryani was fresh. The lady confirmed it was, but when the food arrived, it was in the same spoiled condition. My order was placed at 7 PM, delivered around 8:30 PM, and I ate it at 9:30 after reheating—but the food was clearly not fresh from the beginning.
When I called to explain the issue, the staff treated me as if I was lying. They claimed I ate one biryani and tried to return the other, which is not true. I returned both biryanis (except the small portion I served on my plate) the very next day. Their response was even worse—they told me that if the food is spoiled, I need to bring it back immediately. Honestly, I’m not free to drop everything and drive 10 miles at night just to prove food is spoiled. I called the very next day when I had time, and instead of addressing the problem, they dismissed me and said any biryani would spoil the next day. That’s not true—the biryani was spoiled the very minute it arrived.
It’s very disappointing to be treated this way as a paying customer. I don’t waste my time or money just to make up stories about food quality. The whole point of ordering online is to get reliable food delivered, not to be told that I must drive back immediately to show them bad food.
This was my second bad experience in a row, and it shows a lack of quality control and respect for customers. I would advise others to be cautious...
Read moreThis is definitely a no-frills, all flavors Indian restaurant, with some of the best ethnic food I've had in a while.
The restaurant is situated inside a Mediterranean grocery store, which itself needs a lot of TLC and gives the restaurant a hole-in-the-wall status, but don't let that intimidate you. They offer complimentary hot chai and there's a TV that played Indian music videos an quite a few tables.
I ordered garlic naan and Chicken Tikka Masala, and waited about 15-20 minutes for the order, which was worth the wait. Everything came out fresh and hot. The young woman who took my order was very polite and spoke great English!
The garlic naan actually has pieces of garlic and cilantro on it (despite most Indian restaurants I've tried who just use garlic oil), largely portioned, and grilled perfectly. The masala was seasoned perfectly and had a sweetness to it, with big chunks of tender chicken that practically melted in my mouth from one bite. The basmati was mixed with white and gold basmati, which was a nice touch.
If you're ever on this side of Memphis and craving Indian food, I cannot recommend this place enough! I ate it up so fast I forgot...
Read moreThe dum biryani chicken was barely warm and still had pink on the inside of the leg. It was mild in heat which is good because that is what I asked for. The other indian restaurant on Southern can't seem to make that happen. The rice was good, could have used more flavor but good. The white yogurt sauce was good. The yellow sauce didn't look, smell or taste good. Pretty gross. The cake taste exactly like the supermarket smells and that is incredibly bad. I will never make that mistake again. It was also soggy like it had been frozen and thawed multiple times. It needs to at least be stored in an airtight container to limit the smell of the store affecting the taste of the cake. The price on the mini dum biryani is very nice at $7 for more than enough food. I will give them another chance, maybe they're having a bad day. (Update, tried again today) the chicken tikka masala was very good. First time having it as well as naan bread, also very good. They gave more chicken tikka masala than rice which I thought was strange. Needs a little more rice. The supermarket didn't smell bad either today. Will be back for the...
